How to run a "mod"

Help!

I cannot figure out---how do you run a mod? I have several mods, but I do not know how to run them!

Each should come with its own directions. For those that use the mods folder, it should just be a matter of unzipping them there and selecting them in game with the 'change mods directory' option below the 'use mods' checkbox. But this can vary from mod to mod.

Note you must have at least version 1.2 to use any mods that use the mods folder. That functionality was not present in the retail 1.0 version.

Each Mod MUST have a ModDescription.xml in its main directory. Otherwise the mod
is not visible in the option window.

Examples of a ModDescription.xml you will find in the Default or in the Example mod
folder.

You can copy the ModDescription.xml of the 'Example' mod folder or of the 'Default' mod folder and paste it in your own mod folders. After that your mods should appearing,
if you go in the Main Menu -> Options -> Game Options -> Current Mod Directory -> pushing CHANGE button -> in the 'Browse Directories Window' select your mod, click on DONE button -> and mark USE MODS, than go back to Main Menu, leave GC2 and start the game again.

With notepad it is easy to change the DESCRIPTION text of the pasted ModDescription.xml in every way you wish.

I found one of my problems---I was putting my mods in the folder "My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2/Mods", when I should have been putting them in the folder "My Computer/Program Files/Stardock/GalCic2/Mods". Also, NONE of the mods had the file "ModDescription.xml"---I had to copy that file from the "Example" mod! Unfortunately, the mods still do not work! Any ideas?

For some unknown reason, this mod is now working. I had to reinstall Windows (for some reason, my CD-ROM would not work). Also, I had to reinstall the Game (I do not know, so do not ask). Now it works! It kicks a$$! Thanx, Rav!
