Awww, how nostalgic! It is amazing to see how much the game evolved. GC2 looks like an entirely different game altogether. I would definetely jump in this offer if I didn't already have GC1 and AP.

For any of you out there who have not yet played the original i would suggest that you could not spend your $30 on a better game! The original version of the GCII saga had us playing the pants off it for ages.
The game is a totaly different playing experience than GCII and as a bonus kicker you can use mods and have a custom playlist for your own mp3's!!

Go buy this game!!

Dont delay!!

What's that in the screens? Could you change the rival civ alignment in the game set-up back then? Also, why does the Altarian description say they're incredibly evil - did they use to be? I'm fairly sure they're a Good race in GalCiv2.

The in-game descriptions altered dependig on the allignment you chose for the races

Nice offer guys!

I already have GC1 though, so what kind of offer does Stardock lay on the table for those solely wanting the expansion pack Altarian Prophecy? Perhaps a feelgood price for people like me too?

GalCiv 1 was a great game during its time. The only reason to pick this game up is if you can't run Galciv 2. Otherwise, why buy a game when the sequel is clearly leaps and bounds better. Story wise, it seems to take place during the same events.

I hope you are kidding. I do my fair share of gaming, but when my wife says put it away, they are gone. FOrtunately, I too have other things in my life besides gaming, enough things to keep me happy..... so it's not a problem. But I stay away from MMO's... those are evil... evieeeel.. I tell ya.

More evil than GalCiv2? How many MMO's will tell ya it won't hurt to play a few more turns.

Yeah I'd like some kind of a discount for just AP. I remember GC1, it was one of the reasons that I got a new computer. It's a great game but isn't too high on the graphic requirement so I was quite surprised that it didn't run on my old comp.

a contrario, i was bored with à game saying "you are playing since à long time"

"are you sure you don't want to stop"

Actually, I still see GalCiv/Altarian Prophecy boxes in stores. It's kindof cool. Maybe the stores are just waiting for people to buy them.

I'm surprised Stardock didn't take this action one year ago. Stardock does not want to undercut the retailers but I'm sure GalCiv1 had long since disappeared from retail stores by the fall of 2005. Making this offer back then would have help drum up interest for GalCiv prior to the release of GalGiv2 in the spring of 2006.

Some Guy, what stores still have GalCiv/Altarian Prophecy!? I have difficulty finding copies of GalCiv2!

Hi Frogboy,

maybe you could give T-Man some free time to make the long overdue GC1 Metaverse aging*. This would really help to keep GC1 attractive.

Thank you always for this great series of games. I'm a fan since good old GC2 times (for OS/2 ) and bought all sequels since that time (GC2 Gold, GC1, AP, GC2).

*Currently your data only ages when you submit anything. Thus noone who already submitted in the past has an interst to submit again since he would loose most of his points. e.g. Technician lost place no. 1 only because he submitted a game and the others not despite the fact that he submitted 800 games more than the current no. 1. And for new gamers it is very hard to gain any foothold due to all the historic memorials on the first pages

Funny thing...

Fry's carries Gal Civ I and the AP expansion. 4 copies of GCI, and 6 of the expansion, and they usually have GCI on hand.. but from week to week it might fluctuate.. 1-5 copies.

Could you please let me know how does the box of the Ultimate edition look like? Is it a unique box or do you just get the 2 boxes (original+expansion) bundled together as the store picture suggests?
