Don't be an idiot, really. Spiting people is uncalled for, when you can just click your fingers and have the magic forum person kryo fix everything.

LALALALALA BURN CARRIERS LALALALALAL HAM.

Although... /signed. From now on, I'm just going to randomly quote every dev I've seen saying "it's not happening"

/signed, there really is alot of those threads spawning around.

LALALALALA BUILD CARRIERS LALALALALA MUAHAHA!

Carriers rule.

They don't break any rules, so hopeless as they may be, they can stay.
thank you kryo

Carrier threads forever!! lol

I think most of us know carriers will never be implemented... It's just an interesting discussion.
They need to keep the threads down to a reasonable level, anyway, and if so many people want carriers in GalCiv II I don't understand why they can't just find a way to mod it in.. it'll probably take more than some modifications to the XML files, but cry me a river.

To implement carriers would require the ship hull sizes to all be changed in order to make it logical, and extensive rebalancing to make it useful/balanced. Most people will not want to use it, therefore it is not worth the developer's time.

So /signed.

i wounldnt mind carriers  but people should check to see if the topics being raised already  /signed

Perhaps, since they are not part of the game and never will be, they should all be moved to "Off Topic". (Or Off Planet somewhere, because things that can not be done are seldom that interesting to discuss the whys and hows of over and over and over...)

"it's not happening"

Blah Blah Blah, who cares, I will /sign anyways. Who needs a carrier when you can have a Dysons Sphere!

Carriers rock!!!!!!!!
If you don't like carriers then don't read carrier posts
but I think hundreds of Galciv2 members love 'em!!(115 posts so far and counting)

Dyson's sphere

What the heck is a dysons sphere?????

And to marcathonas:

Never give up never surrender.

And besides even if kryo did decide to delete carrier posts
it'd probably take him a day or three to find them all and there still would be more coming!!!(no offence)

The 115 posts so far are the only ones that I have seen!!(there are so many more)
most of them are under "ideas for GC2"!!!

And there are forty signed for carriers and 10 against!!!
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH

A Dyson Sphere is something hypothesized by Freeman Dyson.

Originally, it was envisioned as a dense ring of solar collectors orbiting a star to, feasibly, gather all the available power from it's output. Over time it has inspired such things as Larry Niven's 'Ringworld'. As seen in Star Trek (one of the TNG episodes), it also describes an artificial planet constructed around a star (yes, around) to take full advantage of it's energy.

In essence, a Dyson Sphere today could be described as the largest type of starbase/starship.

The night hawk, can you not read? It's not happening. If the entire forum turned around and screamed simultaneously for carriers, then beagle might hear the echo on mars. However, it wouldn't change the fact they aren't going to happen, purely because there just isn't time with all the new stuff happening for DA.

You can go on with your "never give up" crap. If I ever got into a situation where I was surrounded by 30 men with submachineguns, I personally would start memorising how much money I have in my bank. Those that say "never give up" are either liers, or very short lived in preffered circumstances.

Kryo, can you at least make a carrier sticky and stop the multiple threads?

What the heck does that mean??

Memorizing how much money I have in my bank???

Couldn't you think of a better comeback????

Let's all try to keep positive, okey?

And features for DA include mining asteroids!!
Which means resource collecting!!
What kind of idiot dosen't know that resource collecting makes a strategy game dull!?

Galciv2 dosen't have that much resource collecting and has more of other stuff. And Thats what makes it interesting. Lets take diplomacy, in other games diplomacy meant solely giving tribute, taking tribute and declaring war and peace. But some genius in the galciv dev team(whos name I still do not know) found a way to make diplomacy interesting. To give it more meaning. What meaning does resource collecting have!? Resource collecting makes strategy games Dull. Dull with a capital "D"!!!!!!
They won't be making links to gamespot or TGN or any other review sites when DA gets out.

Carriers would have been a much better feature then asteroid mining. I hate resource collecting.

I believe the reference is to the probes on Mars.

Okay, I agree with you on this one.

And Kryo, it might be a good idea to sticky one of the carrier threads. I'm for that.

Well. The resources currently in the game give you a distinct advantage in one fashion or another in regards to military, research, economics, or morale for starters. A very good aspect to this game in my opinion.

Anomalies in another form could be considered as resource collecting. I mean you are going out of your way at the beginning of most games in order to get them. Giving you bonuses and extra cash that in the end also gives you a slight advantage during the game.

In my opinion it is a vital part of any strategy game. If not for that aspect of the game along with one or two others implemented by the Stardock team, it would have ended up being another shooter clone which to me, in my opinion, would have been a waste.

Galciv2 doesn't have that much resource collecting and has more of other stuff.

Since everyone is talking about how "realistic" carriers would be in the game, and that is their best argument I can see thus far..... what about resource collecting? You need materials in order to build, money to build, fuel to operate, food to eat, damn, in that case just take out the freaking farms. You are just Resource collecting, oh, same with stock markets, take them out to while your at it. Fact of the matter is, resource collecting in one form or another is vital in creating a game that has strategic value.

Who knows what Stardock has planned for the asteroid mining bit. I feel confident enough that it isn't going to be something that is dull and boring.

As far as Carriers.... I care less either way, as I said this evening in another post, I could debate either argument but I play the game to play the game, not for carriers, for cloaking devices, for better planetary bombardment options, for multiplayer, or to see PaPa Smurf with a shotgun trying to make rabbit soup out of the Energizer Bunny.

Its in the game!

Why do you guys hate carriers so much?
Give me a firm reason.
And don't say that its because its not gonna happen.

There clearly is a reason behind your "it's not gonna happens"s.
Go on, tell us the reason for your hatred of carriers.
If you think its not balanced enough and it would be game breaking then I'll have you know that through hundreds of threads the ideas for making it fun , not overloading the fleet battle thingy, making it fair, having the AI use it effectively, having balanced drawbacks, range, logistics and just about anything you can think of have been thought of.
So please humor me with your opinion on carriers. And please, don't give me the "its not gonna happen" speech. Lets all try to stay positive, okey?!
