Demo Ran fine - Full Version slow, no music

I played with the demo for awhile and finally decided to purchase the full game.

The demo ran with no issues on my machine (A64 DC). Downloaded the full game and installed. Upgraded to version 1.31.

Now the game noticably bogs down and there is no background music, even though it is enabled.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Did you click the [+] next to GC2 in SDC and get the multimedia pack? Without it, there won't be any sound (extra parts like sound and videos are separated so those on slow connections can get the core game only if they want it all faster).

As to performance issues, go to C:\Program files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2 and open the file debug.err, then copy/paste its contents into a post here. That'll give us detailed system info we can use to give advice.

The demo ran fine. The game was well worth the money. For those of you who do not have it, buy it! As hard as it is for me to say, this game is even better than Master of Orion 2! The only problem I have with this game is that the interface is hard for me to get around in, but only a little!

UdarMolnia,

The slowdown could be caused by some of the additional gfx effects we've added.  You may want to play around with turning on/off options on the video tab.

Here are some options you may want to adjust for performance:

Interface Tab:
+ Background Star Density:  Turn this down
+ Background Nebula Density: Turn this down
+ Simple Explosions: You may want to check this if you notice the battles are stuttering
+ Show Ship Damage: Uncheck this

Video Tab:
+ Antia-aliasing: Turn this down or off
+ Various texture options: Try turning these off
+ Disable City Lights On Dark Side of Planets: Disable this
+ Disable Point Sprites: Check this
+ Throttle Frame Rate: Enable this

These wil make the game look less impressive, but the game should run smoother.
