THE WAY THINGS WERE,,,

I know I shouldn't ask this but I have to just to tempt fate. My game has been going great for awhile now and I really shouldn't piss with it. But let's say I uninstalled everything GCII related and then reinstall the game, v1.2 on a retail purchased CD without going to the websites and downloading any updates. Does anyone know what I am going to be missing out on or actually ahead of the curve on with respects to gameplay. I've read some threads dealing with the changes and what they were, sort of. My latest update was to 1.3 I believe (it was out about two weeks ago, and then the devs worked Friday night on issues, I downloaded on Saturday after all their hard work)but I haven't installed the most recent update that updates the update, lol. I know I shouldn't tempt fate with the game going great now but I was thinking of just installing the retail game, waiting for the expansion, and then installing it as well, without further updates regardless. Any opinions? Does anyone know which version is really, really, the best?

The expansion is based off of (or rather merged with) the 1.31 code. So it's really rather pointless to avoid 1.3 if you plan on getting the expansion anyway, because it will include all those changes that were made in 1.3 too.

opinions are divided over what is the best, some say 1.2, some say 1.3 (no one says 1.1 i believe).

1.3 has some great new things, but the people that go for 1.2 do that cause 1.3 made economy allot harder to build. thus making the game harder.
i like it, i like 1.3(1) and i don't want to go back, but some did.
majorty stayed for 1.3 though. simply cause of 100 new things that were added/fixed/tweaked.

1.31 has desperately needed bug fixes. So, in that respect, it's much better than anything before it. It IS a harder game and doesn't play the same so if you're really stuck on the way 1.2 plays, you'll have to live with its bugs. Personally, I'm just adapting to the new version rather than going back. After a few games, you'll forget about the difference anyway.

Sometimes I think I'd say I agree with the OP's sentiments, but Stardock has what's best for everyone playing the game in mind. There was a time way back when I didn't agree with certain changes, but I got over it. GC2 is a kickass game. My advice would be to 'lump it' and live with it. It just keeps getting better.

well thats my 2bc
