Planet population question

Hello to all civilizations !

Can someone tell me how exactly number of citizens on the planet effects the number of production/research points that planet can do per turn?

Population does not effect production or research. You will produce the same amount with 2B or 20B. It is determined by how many factories or research buildings are present, and the level of spending allocated to each.

Actually, there is a link between the two. Man and Res are based on %funding, but funding is based on income, which is partially determined by taxes, which is based on population.

Well, that is an indirect link. I was wandering if people need to fill workplaces there, like in Imperium Galactica 2. Well, as I see they need not. Everything is automated
