PLEASE, Developer help asked.

Hello, I am a new player and have purchased GalCiv2. I love the game, but HATE the pirates. In the late game, a fleet spawned with like 750 attack total. I cannot possibly win, and it is ruining my whole GalCiv2 game experience. I am asking the developers how to disable them, what file to delete, or what line from what file to delete. I love the game, but the pirates ruin the WHOLE THING for me when I build and build, and then an impossible-to-beat pirate fleet comes into play and destroys the whole galaxy after 2 or 3 days of game play. I TRULY hate this part of the game. How do I disable the pirates, GalCiv2 developers? Thank you for your reply, I have registered the game and can provide proof of purchase if you require.

I'm not a dev, but I was wondering what version of the game you are running?
Pirates in the earliest version were very powerful and showed up fairly often; but in later versions they don't show up nearly as much, or as powerful.

If you haven't already, you should update to version 1.31. That may solve your problem. But they are coded into the exe file, so there is no way to mod them out, or mod them different.

go to the download section and download SDC (Stardock Central) this will make it a snap to download updates for your games just enter in the required information and itll automactically download and update your game.

When the pirates first appear, the message will mention what planet they are menacing. The pirates will not have formed a fleet initially, they will be stacked on top of each other as single ships. If you can destroy them that first turn, before they can join together, they are much easier to deal with.

That's only if the pirates are spawned from the galactic prison.

Thank you, everyone for replying so fast. It is a serious bummer that they cannot be removed from the game, in my opinion. Maybe I'll just keep reloading a previous save game until they don't show. I mean, an attack value of like 760 or so is just RIDICULOUS. It's GOT to be an error. Hope they address that in an update. Or maybe they allready have. But thanks for the replies, all.

It's not an error, I've seen and built fleets that can take down pirates. Best to leave them alone and let someone else deal with the problem.

But yes, they are easier to handle if you update. But they still appear occasionally, and wreak havoc.

I can see why you would think its annoying. If you can try to lead them to enemy space. I don't get upset about it, because I tend to play the game as a space-empire-RPG rather than a 4X-strategy-game.
