Galactic Privateer - AI glitch

I have version 1.31.049. I was playing the campaign and the dread lords were attacking my trade fleet so I decided to build a Galactic Privateer facility. It got built so i re-created my trade freighter fleet. Once they initiated a trade route they would be immune from attack - EXCELLENT! So it worked, but it worked too well. Not only did it protect my freighters, but it protected pretty much everything else. The dread lord AI was busted. Dread lord ships kept moving into freighters as if to attack them (but they couldn't), so every turn when an established freighter would move (that the dread lords were onto) the dread lords would follow the freighter as if being towed around. This distracted the dread lords and allowed an easy victory by my financially and technologically backed allies (I had 0 military vessels but my score was ridiculous). The dread lords (or any other civilization) should know when freighters are protected and ignore those ones (after reasonable method of finding out whatever way makes the most sense).

I did't build the wonder, but kept building freighters and trade routes.
While the DL ships were distracted I built a fleet and attacked thier base.
That was back at v1.1whatever though ...

I had a weird declaration of war for the second time yesterday: Somehow the Thalans, although much weaker than me, "attacked" one of my freighters, sending us to war. There was no official declaration of war, and I could make peace instantly, but all trade routes had vanished, relations were "cool" etc. It might be a similar thing to the one described above: IIRC the "protect freighters" UP resolution was active at the time, comparable to the privateer wonder.

My interpretation is as follows: The Thalans wanted to move on a square where a freighter of mine was, and for odd reasons an attack was initiated - could have be vice versa as well. As said above, it's not the first time I've seen it.

That bug has been in there a while now. I reported it prior to this version here on the discussion boards, but I supposed they didn't examine it.

I believe that if an AI ship's turn ENDS on top of your ship, they have no choice but to declare war. The AI cannot find a path around your ship so it is forced to engage the ship. I believe the same thing happens to you, except that you will get the choice to attack or not.
