Genesis Device questions

I was watching Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan, and I thought to myself, hmmm... Genesis Device in the GC2? Is it even possible? Did a quick search on the forums, and not one hint or whisper of it.

So.. has anyone tried making one? Has anyone any idea on if it's even possible? Could anyone point me in the right direction?

I tried to make an event that would trigger and convert the nearest class 0 planet into a class 5 planet, and after that destroy the trigger. The trigger was a starbase, that was destroyed after the creation. I tried making it trigger every time that starbase was constructed, but I failed miserably. Just doesn't work without coding something like that in.

Hmmm. Alright, but there is a UP vote for a new planet.. isn't that a kind of genesis device, the nature's way? Would you guys think it's possible to modify a copy of that code to trigger upon a genesis station/torpedoship? Without the voting part heh.

Or do we definately have to wait for dark avatar? I'm gonna see if I can find that part myself after work today and see if there's any way. Where would it be in?

I would think the genesis device would be a combat option that cost $1m credits and re-rolled the planet..

So, instead of a 15pq Altarian planet, you could get a 9 PQ Empty planet, or a 24 PQ empty planet.

I know you should be able to 'upgrade' existing planets, but part of the point of why it was banned was because of it's military applications.. (So, you would probably get -diplo with good an neutral, as well.)

Actually, I'm sort of working on something like that. Not really.
It's nothing special - basically, it ramps up the frequency of United Planets Council issues from every what, 20 weeks to about half that. It doesn't get annoying, trust me - I'm working on some UI stuff to keep it unique. Anyway, all I'm really doing is throwing in a bunch more of those event types - I say that a race of furry rats have increased its livablitiy, or a huge mine of silver nitrate was found and it help Terraform (Toriaform? Drengiaform?) the planet.

I'll throw it in soon - but I really want to see it as more of an ability, rather than a random event.
