Gal Civ II won't install

Hello stardocks team, i have a issue with the game installing. every time i run the cd to install it runs at 18% and says "" An I/O error occured while installing a file,this is cause by a bad installation media or a corrupt file: then it closes up. i don't know if it is me or my pc but i would love to play this hot game and having no luck, my computer specs as follows:



WIN XP PRO with SP2

1021 MB RAM DDR

Custom built ECS AMD motherboard already updated board drivers and BIOS

Sound Blaster Live 5.1 updated drivers

NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128 with force ware 91.31

a Samsung 80 HD with no bad sectors and it has been defraged and scandisked

no modem

A CNET PRO NIC with drivers



i even disabled the avast antivirus and windows firewall and get same issue,

please help

Try downloading Stardock Central, entering your serial number, then downloading GC2 from there.

Sounds like a bad install disc (there was at least one bad batch pressed). You can return it for an exchange at the store (no guarantee you won't get another bad one, though), or download the entire game via SDC straight to your hard drive. You can get Stardock Central in the downloads section; install it, log in with your forum account, then find GC2 in the Register Products section in the menu and input your serial. You should then be able to download the game.

Read his spec again.
He says he has no modem, and therefore probably can't download stardock central

Most people these days do not have modems installed.
I don't.

He does have internet access, though.
Probably through his NIC, the same as most of us.

And if he posted from a different computer, there are ways around that too. There is a sticky thread about activating the game on a computer with no internet access.
