What do you think of Neverwinter Nights 2

I'm kind of doing a bit of research about this game. In case you didn't know it's a Dungeons and Dragons RPG in development by Obsidian entertainment (many of whom are former Black Isle employees). It has a big emphasis on modding and user created content.

Do you think it's gonna be good. If so why/why not? Planning on buying it? Not know anything about it at all? Please post regardless (I don't work for them, this isn't a PR thing or something).

I think it will be at least as good as NWN and its various sequals/premium modules.

Why? First and formost NWN has over 2,000,000 registered users for which many are extremely vocal. NWN developers listen very closely to these users and move the development of this game directly inline with user comments. I have found this true. For the record, I have played and own every NWN game and module and have been playing them for several years now. I am also active on the NWN forums.

Do I plan on buying it? Hell yeah. NWN is a great game with a great game engine. I love this game to pieces. Why would I not give NWN2 a shot?

NWN2 is develloped by Obsidian not Bioware

Who said it wasnt, and what is your point?

From the NWN2 FAQ:

Greg Zeschuk: BioWare is providing the BioWare Aurora Engine to Obsidian to help build Neverwinter Nights 2. We're also providing technical support on the engine, as well as design advice. We're advising on the project so that the original vision of the game is passed on to the new team. We've got a good relationship with the folks at Obsidian and we definitely want to see them succeed in making Neverwinter Nights 2 a great game; we see it - in part at least - as still being a BioWare project.

Ray Muzyka: We're working closely with Atari and Obsidian as the game progresses and, at their request, we'll be assessing the game's progress with Atari as it moves along.

In case your wondering, Greg Zeschuk is the President and Co-Executive Producer and Ray Muzyka is the other co-founder and Chairman/CEO of BioWare.

I loved NWN and the persistent worlds play online, was what kept me playing Looong after the campaign was done.

I loved the world builder and hope NWN2 has one as good or better for the D&D fans to build our own modules.

One other things I ALWAYS look forward to in new games is new classes, spells and abilities, etc.

Feel free to look up my screenname on the IGN site for NWN. Its the same me. I helped run a NWN server for over three years. I'm looking forward to NWN2, but mostly as a single player.

I LOVED the Aurora toolset.
