I'm sure that will be the main thing on the coming Star Wars mod, this ship, that long long ago people wanted so much to see, is here! people! I would like to show you the Imperial Star Destroyer!

I know it's not ready yet, more texture and 3d moddeling is needed but the prototype is ready!

Dont really matter though. If you make the model to big it wount fit in the combat viewer if you scale all the other ships off the SSD then my fighters will be dots, so were going to have to lean toward gameplay over reality more or less.

Hrmm. Well, actually, Monc, I have three different lengths for an SSD.

StarWars.com states it's 19 klicks, but then the first edition of Vehicles and Vessels states 8000 meters, and the second one states 12,800 meters.

So actually, neither one of us is right, as all three are official writings.. lol.

BTW, never trust Wikipedia on anything when it comes to a debate, lol. It's not that reliable a source. Though, apparently, neither are official books .

the rebels have some ships...small ones.. like the X-wing, B-wing, Falcon, and the A-wing, that's what we have, but some of them don't seem to work well..

I got two different ISD's for yeah and that only the begining. I just one of several members. We can do alot already but were waiting to relase a great mod worry of the Star Wars name.....Trust me. A mod is not just models. Its all the team is putting into it. The other stuff is really important if you think about it. I am reallly happy with the fact that the Star Wars and Star Trek teams are creating mods that will create an excellent expereince. The next few monthes will be so excellent for the GCII fans. Be patient and wait for the visions of all the mod teams to come to. It will be worth the wait.

Spax, we might do two versions... I kind of liked the idea of factions as the major 10, but I also really liked Rasori's way of choosing the factions in game.

We'll just see what happens

If people really want 10 factions, we might make two versions.

I think Rasori's idea is good, but we do what the community wants the most, since all the other "movie" mods have factions in the major 10s and not "races" I thought it's a great idea to be different.. but they are right, cause the Rebels are humans, and the Empire are humans also, so if you choose the humans as the Empire, you won't be able to play with the rebels - as the humans, but the multi-area system is supposed to be like this so...

Well, we are going to set the faction techs to that certain AI want to research certain ones, based on ethics... I think this is possible. I can't remember what Rasori said, at any right... 2 versions would be best. and the coding difference wouldn't be that much. It's very do-able. Once I get a response from Rasori, I'll work on factions.

the 12.8 kilometer length for the SSD is the one accepted by most fans. Also, the only class that is actually larger is the Eclipse. The Sovereign is shorter but has more mass.

Some of the ships we are trying to use are absolutly huge. If we did it to scale, you'd never even see the starfighters involved in a battle with an SSD... or all you'd see is the SSD because it's so big, lol...

The mod is coming along well.

... the SDD should be a little bigger then the SD, but not a Hugh difference, you won't see a TIE Fighter in a battle when the SDD is in it... like BradenK said...

I don't expect they could be to scale within the limitations of the hull classes available. It'll be especially worrisome with fighters, unless you made an 'invisible' hull and then created very small X-wing, Y-wing, TIE-fighter, etc-shaped pieces of jewelry that could be attached at hardpoints to represent squads of fighters.

I hope the mod will introduce extremely small turbolasers and such that can have 4+ mounted on a tiny hull, or fighters just won't make sense; furthermore, capital ships won't make sense within the usual rules of GCII because they'd only have 5 or 6 guns on them. Doesn't seem very starwarsy, though I have absolutely no idea how many guns Star Destroyers and such are actually supposed to have; just not 5 or 6, that much is certain.
