Improvement names?

1. Is it possible to have unique names for the improvements depending on wich race is used?
For example a food improvement is called "Farm" by Race A.
But called "City" by race B

2. To what extent can you customise the civilisations? Such as buildings, UI, tech tree, music, invasion/defensive* tactics and well everything else.

* 3. Ive been thinking about adding a new concept to the invasions called Defensive Tactics that the defender can choose from when a planet of his/her gets invaded. It works about the same way asinvasion tactics: You choose from a menu where every tactic has a price and a benefit for the defender. Well, is this even possible to make?

Im new when it comes to modding and I dont want to start making something that wont work.

1. sounds cool, but probably overly complicated because you can see (with espionage) what other races have on thier planets, and with 9 races, thats alot of different names.

2. There are alot of ways to mod things, however I haven't made mods for GC2 before so I don't know.

3. I've heard of people making modded tech trees, so maybe.

Nope.

You can customize the tech tree with a little work and have each race with its own ship components, hulls, improvements, etc. However even with tech trading off, another race could steal a tech and proceed to research everything after it in the other race's tree.

This would require code changes, so it's not possible.

Thanks for the answers. Since the game isnt as customiseable as I thought I will propably have to rethink alot. To be honest, I dont think I will be able to do the mod I want at all with these restrictions. To bad since I spent my computerless summer vacation writing down lots of ideas. No offence meant to you stardock since its a great game but I find it to restrictive when it comes to modding unlike other games. The reason I wanted to mod this game is that its the only 4X game I know these days thats in space. If you are planning to improve the modding capabilites I certainly vote for it.

My guess is that this could be done if you used a unique tech for each race, and the normal tech. Unfortunatly, nothing can have two prerequired techs at the moment.

If this is ever added, thats your only chance. You'd also want it so that the unique tech can't be stolen or traded.

That's pretty much it, but there's no way to prevent tech stealing. You cannot have different names on the same improvement though.

You can use the alignments to set up three distinct tech trees. Then have three civs starting as Good/Neutral/Evil. Put Xeno ethics at the start of the tech tree, so that it has to be researched before anything else, and give it a cost of 1RP, forcing everyone to research it immediately. They should pick the alignment they started with.
