Obliteration

Is it possible to obliterate a planet? If i do not want to conquer but just destroy and make impossible for anyone else to live in there how can i do? If is not possible, will be in DA?

You can't do that directly but I've seen a class 26 reduced to a class 2 when the torians and the dreadlords kept attacking each other with mass drivers. You could fill a few transports with troops, conquer the planet using mass drivers, gift it back and attack again until the planet is basically useless.

I think terror stars in DA will allow you to do a similar thing but I'm not 100% sure of that.

It would be cool to research a super weapon aka Death Star 1 or 2 like, or the 3rd version which could blow up a star (cant remember the name). That would be cool, if balanced out and implemented well. Or it could be even more fun to have a scorched earth option for colonies you take over, so you can make it uninhabitable for however long.

Terror stars sound cool though, whatever they are

That's brilliant, in a hideously terrifying sort of way....

Here is the data for Mass Drivers in InvTactics.xml.

It seems it should be easy to create an upgraded version that sets:
[PlanetQualityPenaltyMin]100[/PlanetQualityPenaltyMin]
[PlanetQualityPenaltyMax]100[/PlanetQualityPenaltyMax]

[ImprovementPenaltyMin]100[/ImprovementPenaltyMin]
[ImprovementPenaltyMax]100[/ImprovementPenaltyMax]

which should render the planet barren and unusable.

Sun Crusher...the Star Wars thing that could blow up star systems was called a Sun Crusher. It used a resonance torpedo to cause a star to immediatly explode into a supernova, thus obliterating the entire solar system...I too would love to harness a power such as this...we need more permanent devastation weapons in GalCiv...Mwahahahaha....

lol, while I'd love to have one, I'd be afraid in some my tougher games where I get behind, the AI would get it before me, and then run around and cause all my stars to go nova...

In 1.3 you can destroy a colony once you own it and it becomes class 0.

cool, no more wasting multiple colonizers on a class 4 or 5 world that is in your home system but you don't want, or some other crappy planet.
