It's supposed to be a selection highlight, though it seems a mite twitchy at present

Umm......

Civilization capital says it can feed 12 billion, without a farm. Should be 10b.
Basic farm says it can only feed 3b. Should be 4b.
Xeno farm says it can only feed 5b. Should be 6b.

At least one colony is totally confused about how many it's supposed to feed.

It says the max population level is 3b, yet there are 8b currently on the planet. It also says max food production is 3b. The basic farm says it's feeding 3b. The initial colony says it is feeding 5b. Is this that fuzzy math I keep hearing about?

I've also had a strange CTD with the beta when I decommission an invention matrix on a freshly conqered planet. I'm not sure whether its that I'm doing it too fast or like what. and it's happened twice in the same game I'm playing, both were freshly conquered and both times I tried to decommission an invention matrix.

Also, I sent the first one as a bug report with a smart exception log, and I looked in the debug.err and didn't see anything that could be linked to it.

Those are the new values for 1.3 beta 3x. There is a post dealing with rebalancing in the 3x beta, that you might want to read. They say they tweaked a lot of the planetary buildings but they really did a big overhaul.

Ugh.

Minor bug, but I've noticed it since 1.0. I guess nobody ever reported it?

Occasionally, one race will call up another and the player's race gives an automatic reply. The autoreply refers to the leader of the alien race with the name of the player's race.

Well, personally, I think the rebalancing act simply tipped it over.
The farms and econ buildings were fine the way they were.
And now the AI overcompensates by not building any factories and plastering econ buildings on nearly every tile. I don't think they are happy with less than 10 econs per planet any more, and it is rare to find more than 1-2 factories even on high PQ planets. Some have none at all.

That is not well balanced, IMO.

We're not seeing this.  See the Journal entry for an example. The AI seems to be building plenty of things quite intelligently.

CTD

Here's the end of the debug:
ASSERT ERROR in file .\Source\EndTurn.cpp at line 1933.
Debug Message: Destroying ship 4-Frigate M8-1X 8. Orbiting: 0
Debug Message: ERROR: Had to force clean up on dead ships that were lingering! (Ship Name: 4-Frigate M8-1X 8)

I have the problem of not being able to see the planet name either. The text area seems to have the color of whatever race you are playing as (Altarian in this case).

Same problem here when playing at Iconians. The highlight makes the text underneath unreadable.

Another minor bug. After played many turns I went to the screen that graphs your race against others in bar graphs (the one where you can choose any opponent or choose "Top Players" to compare with the best in each category). This screen got bugged and showed my race power in each category as flat (meaning I have no power). This is wrong, since I rank number 1 in many categories.

I didn't experience this in my current game (Tough level, each AI is "Intelligent"). The AI seemed to build a nice mix of Manufacturing, Research and Economic buildings. If anything, it was light on building farms and embassies.

Maybe it's just my games or something.
I dunno.

The further adventures of a quack, whose gone to the dogs....

Found and tried running game on one processor vs. two... as long as nothing much was happening, smooth and nice... some lag with alot of ships, but nothing major.

Still has a horrible time during influence defections. It's as though the game is trying to do way too much all at once. The sound effects went nuts, sounded like the ai were beating the drum for ramming speed. A window popped up with the Altarians info all over it... it looked like it was trying to show me the ships in orbit and then that they were moving, except they weren't my ships. It was like I was the Altarians for a few seconds... Game then got agitated and jumpy. After the 2nd defection I had to quit. The choppiness just gets too irritating.

Also, the game will not let me move ships in the order I choose. If I click on a ship or fleet and it has movement left, it will not let me move anything else. I click on another ship or fleet and it immediately goes back to the first one I clicked on. The game cannot get over the fact I want to move something else.

Go into Options/Game, and under the Game Options section make sure these two are checked on:
Skip Moves Left Over From Auto Pilot
Enable Auto Focus To Move Camera To Selected Ship

That may solve at least that last problem.

Mine skips as a planet is flipping too. The planet changes owners and you will see the ships that are in orbit before they are forced out. Some skipping does occur, but with mine it clears up soon after. Are you sure you are not trying to do things a bit too fast for the game to keep up? Maybe slowing down and waiting 15-20 seconds would let it clear itself.

Well, 3rd place where I complain about it, but I quess this is the "proper" place.. I'm in the campaign and it's bo-o-ring. Why? Because Drengin/Yor never build ships with weapons. They cram them full of shields, but what's the difference if they can't shoot back.

I've noticed ships on sentry or guard sometimes get locked in place so I am unable to select them. Might be due to the change so that clicking on ships in sentry or guard doesn't take them out of that state? When a ship becomes locked like this you do not get the blue highlight around them, it's like clicking an empty space on the map. However, next turn they are unlocked and can be moved as normal.

Not checked if it persists through a reload, if it does, who do I send the save to?

I've played two games with the current beta build so far and experienced the same thing in both.
Here's a savegame where this bug occures: savegame

To reproduce:
1) Load savegame
2) Go to planet "Vesta I" and remove the two Xeno-Labs using the DEL key on the keyboard

This causes the game to crash. It's important to use the DEL key instead of canceling the half-finished Xeno-Lab via the UI using the mouse.

Actually, I've seen the opposite of this. The Iconians surrendered to me, and every planet was crammed full of factories and research buildings, and we're talking about at least 15 planets, most of which are PQ 9 or higher.

One change in AI tactics I've noticed is that if two races go to war, and one of them is significantly weakened, all the other races gang up on that weakened race, regardless of ethical alignment. That's how I got the Iconian planets.

For some reason I can't edit my post. Anyway, it does indeed persist through a reload. I also found you can still doubleclick and get the ship's details, but it cannot be selected normally.

Edit: I can edit this one ok though New discovery; doubleclicking the affected ship and turning off guard/sentry makes it selectable again.

Minor bug:

When playing as the Iconians and you first obtain the Trade tech, you start with a Human-style freighter even though all the other ships are from a different ship-style set.

I'm seeing some odd behavior out of the Arceans set on Bright. They keep decommissioning starbases for no apparent reason. They've done it at least 4 times now.

Back to the food trouble....

I didn't notice it until a planet nearly revolted on me, but I had a planet with a farm sitting on a 300% food bonus. The Drengin surrendered it to me and that's how they built it.

It could be that this is how it's supposed to do it, but I don't remember it being like this. It is adding 7mt for the Advanced Farm, then another 21mt for the bonus. I thought the bonuses multiplied capacity, not multiplied then added to existing capacity.

It is a 300% bonus (not total), so it is like having 4 buildings.

100% = 2x
300% = 4x
700% = 8x

3 things I noticed

1) Graphics Glitch in ship design. Was building a Medium class ship and when I saved it-it changed into a Large Hull graphic and pretty much stayed that way. When one of them was destroyed, you could see the original medium class base graphic fly apart-odd.

2) The current game Im playing had the dengrins somehow end up with pretty much the entire tech tree fairly early on, probably got it all from one of the minor races. Anyhow-despite being at war with me the entire game, they really wouldnt attack, though i was severely out-gunned and definately outteched. IOW for being at war and haveing me outnumbered in every conceiveable way-attacked very little. Mostly just sat in orbit-made the odd attack. Seemed very passive. Lastly not sure if this is a bug, but I was able to steal the tech victory uhhh...tech from the dengrin. Not sure if that makes sense.

3 Some preformance Issues involveing game stuttering and general lagginess on the big map. My ship numbers were not all that great-nor were AI ships present in what I would call large numbers either. Somewhat sporadic, tends to clear up on its own-occurs on reloads a bit (shrug). I do have AI intensive algo's running-if thats probable cause, disregard.

I just had the "decommissioning buildings too quickly == instant death" thing too. I had a queue lined up, changed my mind and went to delete two buildings and it got hung up and crashed.

EDIT: Gaahhh... Happening constantly now. Seems it doesn't like me using the delete key? Haven't seen it happen using the mouse on the X button.

+ New Combat System: 1 on 1 Ship Battles:

If both sides kill each other in the same round, the ship with the most max hp will escape as the winner with 1 hp. If they have the same max hp, the attacker wins.

This change from 1.2 doesn't seem to work like that in 1.3X (campaign) .. What actually happens is that my kamikaze dreadlord-killer ship with enough firepower to take out the DL escort/frigate in first round doesn't do any damage. In fact is seems the ship is restored to max HP if it was previously damaged!

This only happens in 1-to-1, 1-to-many seems to work as expected.

So to make ANY damage to DL ships you need a fleet of at least 2 ships.

Is this by design or?

the subspace blaster has the same damage as disruptors III but greater size even though it is further along the reasearch branch.
