My first game

Just keep playing and learning. You'll eventually want to restart and use all you've learned.

I, like you, started the same way. After about 15 hours and 240 planets, 16 game years, I decided to re-start. There is so much you will learn along the way you will want to, even after spending that much time. Also, I started on cakewalk, and believe me, the game got extremely boring because it was not a challenge. I bumped it up to beginner and it was still to slow for me. Normal is somewhat bareable but I find the more I play at normal the less enjoyment I get from the experience. Couple more battles for me and I will bump it up another level or two. Currently I am trying to get my multi racial victory medal so I am really not to worried about it. Hang in there and remember, there is much to be learned. Even if you come here to the forums, a great source of information at times.

I started by jumping into the campaign straight away and playing straight thru to the end.

BIG MISTAKE!

Well the first 3 scenario's r like a tutorial, I missed out on the real action in sandbox where GC2 is awesome.

U r probably best, in theory, starting out on a tiny galaxy with normal difficulty and seeing how u get on.

I agree, cakewalk got boring after a while i almost gave up playing the game full stop before I remembered to increase the difficulty. Tried the campaign, cant say it appealed to me to much, the story is good, but i take too long to build up, i guess its just me.

Don't worry it takes a couple games to get used to, ...the game. I didn't need the tutorials but I guess if your totally new to strat gaming then you might want em.
