Invasion draw

Invasion draw

I read a post once from someone asking whether a failed invasion would result in the loss of planet quality, and the answer was no of course but recently i invaded a planet and it produced a perfect draw 0-0.

As you might expect the invasion screen said "invasion foiled" and i didn't get the planet but strangely enough i recieved some dialouge afterwards saying that the quality of the "captured" planet had been reduced (due to the invasion tactic).

I would of put this as a bug but i think its a pretty fair and likely scenario in a draw,

what do you guys think?

it would seem to me that a draw would be pretty rare because of many factors, but if enough of the factors line up it could happen.

Still, that sounds like a reasonable way to end it because there aren't any of your invasion troops left so nobody is there to 'capture' the planet, but thiers was destroyed and in that way the attack succeeded.

I've had some close calls with invasions where there are only a few soldiers left on either side and the other is defeated. So I can see how a draw could happen, but considering the factors involved, a really small amount could keep a draw from happening.

it can't be, a draw? it will never happen, or you lose or you win, there is nothing between this...

I have also had a 0-0 draw, which is a loss in the sense of not getting the planet, but it did cause damage to the planet.

I've never had a draw but now you mention it I could see how it happens. Occasionally after I've already wiped out all the opposition forces, a stray missile or two loops in on the animation and takes out a few more of my soldiers! Must be extremely rare though, even if you're trying to create one.

After the draw was the planet still owned by the AI or was it up for grabs by the next colony ship? If it is still own by the AI (likely) then does the population remain 0 until a troop transport arrives with more population (I have never seen the AI more population around its planets this way)?

It can happen, it's happened to me before (never say never).

When it happened to me, when I went to the map my troops and transport, of course, weren't there, but the population on the planer I invaded hadn't changed.

He's right, like i said before, the draw allowed the ai to keep the planet but damage was still done to quality.

Draws are possible and the battle goes to the defender if one happens. But the invasion tactic dropping the PQ in a draw would be a bug. CodeCritter is on the case

It is possible to have a draw. In that case, the defender will keep the planet.
The planet quality penalty in that case is a bug, and has been fixed for the next update.

Thank you.
