Help! I Can't Invade

OK. I have fleets around the planets I want to invade. Some fleetsare all transports, other fleets are a mix. The planets have been swept of defending ships. But I can't invade! I select the fleet, click the planet to invade, and......nothing. Can anyone tell me the problem?

Are you right-clicking on the planet?
And when you say the planets have been swept of defending ship, are you meaning ships around the area of the planet or the ships in orbit?

If you are doing everything correctly, then maybe posting your debug.err contents might help find the problem.

If there are ships defending the planet (even ships without weapons will block an invasion) then a shield will appear in the corner (I think top left) next to the planet.

Make sure your "transports" are really transports (with troop modules) and not colony ships. Also make sure you have filled them with troops (at least 1, I always fill em up to the max).

No enemy ships can be in-orbit around the planet (What Mascrinthus said). Then left-click on your transport fleet, right-click on the planet to invade, and it should work.

In my experience, troop transports won't launch unless you put *somebody* in them.
I've only played GCII 1.2.

yeah, but if you upgraded all your remaining colony ships to transports, they have only 1 B troops in there..

Ack! I figured it out. I upgraded my Troop Transports to Transport 2's (better armed)about 15 turns ago and it turns out my troops just dissapeared! Is there anyway around this by the way? Doesn't seem fairthat billions of brave soldiers should cease to exist because I do a little remodeling.

Perhaps your bulkheads didn't seal properly when your workers cut open the hull? Did you do your remodeling in open space or in dock?

I think this has happened to me before, too. But I thought that was because I upgraded a colony ship to a transport. If your troops disappear just because you upgraded engines, that is not good. Did you change the transport modules at all in your upgrade?

And if you upgraded the core transport ship, it will never hold troops.
You have to design a new transport ship starting with a basic hull and adding the troop module(s), engines, etc yourself.
