Just won a tech victory!

I finally managed to pull of one of these a few minutes ago. Funny thing is, when I started playing, I was not even planning on a tech win. All the other games, the ones I actually planned on a tech victory, I never came close to it. Strange this time, not even going for one, it all worked out. Perhaps it may have had alot to do with finding some very nice planets near me in the beginning. I had very strong dilomatic ability throughout the game, this made a huge diffence and gave me 2 allies. I researched a ton of diplomatic techs for a change and liked the result.

Also, I won the game I played just before this one too. Allied with the drengins, went evil and stood that way, took over everyone. Got a diplomatic victory in that game. I made a massive ship that was able to clean out, and I mean CLEAN out 4 systems on its on, all by itself. I am talking taking down fleets of 20 ships without a scratch. Best ship I ever created in GalCiv2, it just dominated and ultimately the reason I won. There was an interesting even that occured this game, never seen it. Something happened and turned several planets to class 10! This was uninhabitable planets the whole game until this event popped up. It made about 5 systems with 3-5 worlds each at a 10 class! When this happened, I immediately designed a super fast, long range colony ship to snatch as many as I could. This was an interesting game for sure.

Cool.

I think the tech victory is the hardest to achieve personally, as it takes ages to research the techs, why it scores so low in the metaverse...I don't know.

I got my 1 and only tech victory playing the Yor! Started off with the intention of liquidating all other races in the galaxy, ended up sitting there peacefully behind my military starbases trying to ascend before the other races wiped me out. Go figure?

Hi,

Been there, done that...tech victory on Painful level.

Also got that event too. A whole quadrant of the gigantic galaxy had all its previously uninhabitable planets turn class 13. So many, that it made conquering the race involved the more urgent. The planets were useless...no bonus squares, just bland green tiles.

I would hardly call a bunch of PQ 13's useless, with love, care those could become PQ 16 - 19+'s...a mini empire...
