No. Just... no.

I want Starcraft 2, not yet another game to pay a monthly fee for.

I would like a MMORTS.

Every time a game starts, there are X "generals" who have pretty much the same uses that in StarCraft 1. But other players can join the game as "hero", and take command of special units to lead a general's army.

Playing a ghost, trying to really infiltrate another player's base, to nuke it... oh yhea.. While your teammate launch an all-out assault to divert the other team's ressources...

I would pay for World of Starcraft, but I doubt they'll ever do it. I don't really want Starcraft 2 tho, what I really want is Supreme Commander, because (In my Opinnion) all RTS's before and after it will have to bow to SupCom.

Starcraft 1 in 3d != Starcraft 2

I don't want a Warcraft 3 with Starcraft flavor. StarCraft 1 literally blew open the strategy games, making a super-really pleasing game that many, many, many gamers enjoyed and many still do.

Not really the case with Warcraft 3...

StarCraft 2 will have big shoes to fill. The whole point SC worked that much is that they went beyond the "Warcraft in space" idea. I hope they make it a Great.

Actually, there is. In the PC gamer last month, they had an article on a group that was taking Warcraft 3 and putting in the starcraft element. I saw some pics of it and it looks great. The best part is, they havent recieved a cist and dissist order.

i really at this point just want them to make it starcraft was the first game id ever played and it has remained dear to me ever since that they've been giving the franchise squat after it got them so many sales is just beyond my comprehension

Starcraft really wouldn't work in an MMORPG format and I really don't think that it'd even work that well as an MMORTS. . . although a battle.net version of Ghost would probably have elements along that line. Speaking of Ghost, I wish it was still in full development and hadn't been canned, at least for the time being, so early on.

I would play World of Starcraft, definitely!

I'd rather play World of Warhammer 40K. Starcraft is such a diluted version of the WH40K mythos. Blizzard doesn't really have anything to fall back on to make an MMORPG with unless they write up a lot of new stuff.. probably with the WH40K sourcebooks right next to them while they're 'inventing'.

With World of Warcraft, they had a very broad body of content to draw from, even now there's stuff mentioned in the RTS series that they haven't turned into an expansion yet. There was only one Starcraft, I don't feel they've really got enough to draw on to make an MMO just yet at least unless they thought up / 'borrowed' a bunch of things that fans have never seen before and therefore potentially alienate the fans of the original game.

(On another topic entirely, I'm disappointed they decided to give both sides a new type of elf in the new expansion. They're not fooling anyone with those Dranae or whatever they're called, they went for the lowest common denominator by making yet another 'cute' race instead of anything remotely non-generic.)

Don't get me wrong, Blizzard makes a lot of really polished games and I'd probably consider them among my top five favorite developers, but aside from Diablo I can't think of any IPs of theirs that are 1. interesting, and 2. they possess the most interesting iteration of. That is, I think in stealing ideas and buffing them up to look original, they can come across as bland and uninteresting in comparison. Case in point, the orcs in WoW are just kind of a blending of the old grunting Warcraft/Warhammer orks and the brooding tribal anime orcs from japanese mmogs. I find them remarkably uninteresting.. can't imagine them seriously saying 'zug zug' anymore.

Sorry if I came across like something of a troll, it's morning and I'm crabby.

Im sorry to disapoint you, but what about the Xel'Naga, the Zerg-Terrans hybrids and Zerg-Protoss Hybrids???

Guess you never played the bonus mission...

And the Queen bitch of Blades of the Univers, Kerrigan is yet to be killed, and the Protoss need to retake Aiur.

So yes, there IS something to work on.

I just hope the grpahics are up to par with new games, though gameplay-wise I want a CLONE of Brood Wars.

Have you seen C&C 3:Tiberium Wars??
Those are beatiful graphics

Starcraft is one of my favorite games of all time (way up there with GalCiv 2, Halo, and the Red Alert games). I'm not that into Warcraft though. I guess it's something about the lack of guns. Anyway, Starcraft 2 would be amazing. I am surprised that Blizzard hasn't made one yet. I personally think it would sell very well since it has quite a large fanbase. It could be called a "cult classic" but there are too many fans. It would sell well, Blizzard! Screw WoW and come to the dark side. We have cookies.

Why is it they have shelved this game line so long?
Starcraft 2 and 3 should have been released by now.

Their making a ZILLION tons of money with their MMORPG, why make something that will damage the reputation for the company if not done to expectation, if they can avoid it???

Not what we want, but companies are not democracies.

I still hope the RTS level designer they where asking for 1-2 months ago was for SC2, if that is the case, then the game is well underway through development now, and if not, it is ignored again, and it maybe a new IP(game series).

How dare you put screenshots of starcraft and make me long for hte good old days. But I'll never play it again. Not fast enough anymore, back in the day I was the king. Now I wouldn't even stand a chance.

I second the idea of a good M M O R T S!

If you guys want an MMORTS, you should check out Beyond Protocol. The beta is out right now, but it looks fun.
