Avast is a free virus software, and it works well. It finds stuff norton doesn't, plus it talks to you! What is better then that?

Step 1. Disconnect said computer from internet

Step 2. Uninstall norton (that stuff should be illegal)

Step 3. Go to local college or computer geek and get them to burn you a CD with

A. AVG Anti-Virus (free is fine) and Ewido Anti-Spyware (also free) http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

B. Ad-Aware personal (free is just fine) http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Run all 3 utilities and you will have a very clean computer. not just the installers, the actual scanning.

Step 4. Reconnect to internet and visit update.microsoft.com

For continued protection, i recommend Spyware blaster (free), ad-aware (free edition), and avg (free edition) OR {let me renforce this or by saying chose one OR the other, not both) Nod32 {39$ a year)(eset.com).

Do not run more than 1 anti virus at any time.

thank you all, but I'm now talking from my second computer (rich guy)...   my personal computer has crashed because the virus... I'll take it to the lab tomrrow, see if they can repair it or all my files (backup, the game, mods, progrems, saved games, memory, photos... and more..) are now just another piece of carp...

You do know a trojan requires you to activate it? Then it's your fault if you went and downloaded an infected file and then activated it without any antivirus protection (and no, Norton DOES NOT count as protection).

Understand: you weren't hacked, no-one is out to get you. You just cocked up.
