Meanwhile thing, there are 3 of them, what is the third?

I saw the meanwhile when you get rid of a race
I saw the meanwhile when someone discovers a new ship
and now I saw this:

It's an event that can occur when your influence is very strong, causing other races cultures get stronger to match.

so THAT'S what that guy was talking about on one of the other posts. a movie about a ship sailing over water! or a figher or something.

As for your question, it appears to be a random event that increases cultural power of races except for the Terran alliance. probably because they've got so much power that they're trying to win a cultural conquest.

Merchants and Ship keepers are apparently being forced to only sell home made goods (Native), no foreign stuff, increasing the cultural power of everyone except the terran alliance. at least that's what it's saying to me.

I've had that before and you can watch your influence borders shrink the next few turn.

Off Topic:

Kryo, I want to upload it to the library, but I'm sure it's copy righted so if I'll ask them: "Can I use your clouds and map?" and they'll say yes and I'll show you the mail plus in the Readme file I'll put thier names, It will be approved?

Don't forget the most important one..."Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Justice..."

You need to be old to get that one.

Wholy BEATIFUL planet, batman.

You see, I knew the planets had potential, I just never understood why is it that stardock doesnt make planets look like that, starting with the goddamn lights, make them more dense and cover HUGE parts of the planet, not just 1 tiny spot, thats ridiculous. A planet 50 billion in population should look VERY bright, com on have you eever seen planet earth' dark side from space???? IT LOOK BRIGHT for god's sake...

You feelin' me ????

Hope planet's texture get a makeover...

That's an amazing picture, monclova. You can very clearly see the trans-Siberian railroad, since all of the lights in Siberia surround it.

If that's the dark side of the earth, which bit is in daylight?

Performance. The game has to run on older video cards, and that's not going to happen if you've got 2048x2048 textures on every object on the screen...

Im willing to buy a new powerful video card if something CLOSE to this ever gets done...

I can only think that is the way it looks like with nasa's special satelites wich take pictures on multipule Ranges in the Light Spectrum, or its just a composite picture of diferent times and orbits of 1 satelite, but 1 REAL good picture nonetheless.

Got it from NASA's Photo Archives

You know, ughm, I understand that "performance" is very important for the majority of Stardock's consumers, after all its a turn based game and not a Graphically intensive game like all other genres are, mainly FPS, or RTS, so that ppl with practically any computer can buy and enjoy the game, but should Stardock forget about the most "Demanding and Caring" consumer like myself?? I mean were living in the year 2006, and I can play games that were made 2-3 years ago that had a lot more grphics. I must say now, yes Im a graphics whore, (  This sound funny    ) and I understand that while many ppl lack the capibilty of using the game to its maximun visual potential, there are still improvements that could be made, and here I get to the point.

Q:
Is there anyway that planets with this type of quality could be seen ,not on the main screen, that would be horrible even for my computer, but at least when I invade and I see that "ball" floating around there behind the enemie's fleet in the "Battle Viewer" thats suppouse to look like a planet, to look like Master U's picture or close to it????

Monclova, do you know a way to mod the planet lights? I can get them to the game but it doesn't seem to work well... I got Earth Lights too but they are custom made... you know something?

Thank you.

I enjoy playing GalCiv2 on my laptop. I need it to be able to run on a weaker video card.

I think the game can be rich and detailed without requiring high-powered video to process pretty eye candy.

Im sorry, but I dont know anything about programming, much less moding galciv2

Im just trying to tell some1 with influence around here to make the Lights and Planet Textures look a lil' bit better , ya know??, cuz I would pay more money on a new expansion that improves the Ingame graphics.

I would love to someday get some of those expensive progs, and application to model or texture, but I dont have any of those skills, maybe theres something on the forum you can find??

Anyways I saw you alrdy asked about it on CariElf's Modding Guide post, ill be watching over there if some1 tells you anything about it, maybe Ill try some of it myself

If you get it to work, plz make that mod available, that would OWNZ

Are you contributing that planet texture to some mod, or some1 else made it???
Is that from an alrdry-available mod?? If so can you point me to the Mod Link so I can get it.

Tnkx

You know, that IS a good thing, but for most games out there, there is a thing inside options called the "Video" tab, in there you have settings, this setting include a Graphics bar with, LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH, and sometimes on very good games , ULTRA( ala DOOM 3 engine).
I woudlnt mind if this game had something like this and you could select ULTRA 2048x2048 textures like what kyro said, or something more modest for ppl playing on laptops and such...

I got the Earth's clouds and new map (texture) I got the planet lights from another site, they are almost perfect, but the thing is that we can't make them work, when you got new lights, who knows when will it be the time you see Earth's lights in Earth... I saw once Earth's lights in a class 26 planet, but I never saw Earth with those lights.. and when I try to make Earth 26 class, it doesn't work either...

lights problem:
they have background (means it's a new map with just Earth's dark side and it's not copyrighted)
lights advantages:
they are in .dds format and they are very visible even in massive clouds you still see em..

I would pay more money on a new expansion that improves the Ingame graphics.

me too, I just bought a new video card to my repaired-computer (he got virus, that's why I'm using a laptop and I can't show ya the texture maps) so that's will be great!

People with 6-year-old video cards should NOT expect to be able to play modern games.

yep, when you buy a modern game, you must pay twice, one for the game and one for the video card.

That's whats great about consoles, you can almost go a decade without buying anything, all you got to buy is the games, and consoles are waaaaaaaaay cheaper than computers.

Thats why they suck after a year or two of release...
Just get a job on a Mcdonalds or something for 2 months and you got yourself a new video card

I just hate the ppl that say computers are very expensive, well you know what??, their not for 12 yo children, any1 with a simple job can pay for a nice upgrade, I myself am waiting for the DX10 cards, just hope the mdeium budget model ownz the current 7900GTX, if it doesnt, Ill wait till Q2 next year and get the 2nd generation DX10 card.

Im paitent

I'm waiting for a better video card since last year... well, I got a normal video card but my screen is a LCD, y'know... a flat screen.. that's the best...

Actually, I'd be willing to pay $5-10 for a mini-expansion pack of enhanced textures.
