Get updates from the downloads page of the site and run them (there's really nothing for you to do besides that), or get SDC and update that way.

Mods can vary widely, but should include a readme telling you what to do. If there isn't one, you can post here about that mod specifically and see if you can get help from other users of tha mod or the author.
