Noob question.Combat Viewer

I purchased the game on friday and played it over the weekend. I'm enjoying it a lot. Just playing it on beginner just to get a feel of the game.

Which leads me to the embarrassing question i'm about to ask...

How do I activate the combat viewer during a battle? Is there a key I press? It's displayed the battles sometimes but I can't seem to display it all the time.

At this moment most of the battles are very quick and only consist of a 1 or 2 shots.

By the way i've just finished my first game,Conquest victory. It was only beginner though

It only shows the combat viewer if your ships are fleeted. Thus if your using 1 ship to fight the others it wont show up in the combat viewer and the same for the enemy.

theres a few options in the options screen to control when the combat viewer appears, you can choose to have it show only when both sides are fleets, or when either of the sides are fleets.
dont think you can have it come on for 1-on-1 battles, but youd have to check the options screen

You can change the options so that the combat viewer is always activated in a fight, 1-on-1 battles included.

Thanks for the replies

I'm just swimming around with all the possibilities of this game. I felt a little crushed however when I realised you can't have a separate research on a different planet.

I've recovered from that now though and know you can't have everything in life

As "Random name" mentioned, there are lots of options in the Options menu to choose when you want the Combat Viewer to appear. You CAN have it appear for 1 vs. 1 battles. To do this, you need to changed the "Battle Length" option to "Full Battles."

Yeah, and uncheck fleet battles only. IIRC

You need full-length battles turned on if you want to see that base-buster you designed take down a starbase.

It's either that or fleet it with a sensor boat

Make sure that 'show full fleet battles only if both...' is UNCHECKED, and that Battle Length is set to FULL BATTLES.
