bonus tiles

Kind of a stupid question but I'm going to ask anyways. What exactly do bonus resource tiles do? Is the bonus universal to your civ or is it only for the planet in question. I assume it is planetwide only, therefore how is the bonus, i.e., research or production multiplied or assessed or whatever happens? What does the 300% manufacturing bonus imply? 300% of what?

It only applies to the building built on the tile. So if you build a factory on a 100% bonus production tile, it will produce twice as much (+100&) as a factory on a normal tile. If you build an improvement that does not produce anything that the tile enhabce, you get no improvement. So an entertainment centre built on a research tile gives you no extra morale bonus - you have wasted the tile.

A factory built on a +300% tile produces as much as 4 normal factories (but still only costs as much as 1 to maintain)

Capitals and Wonders get no bonus from being built on bonus tiles.
