"Flagship" is just a name--it doesn't carry any significance in the game. So all you need to do is just rename whatever ship you want to be your flagship to "Flagship"

Exactly, it's all just a parody on how the "USS Enterprise" in ST:TNG was the 'flagship' for the Federation. Also, if you play the Terran Alliance in GalCiv2, you'll notice how their 'flagship' looks like the USS Enterprise .

But is StarDock studying ways to impliment Flagships into fleets?

I always rename my Flagship Enterprise if I upgrade it. Which is only if it gets experience anomalies.

I'm not quite sure what you mean since a flagship is just a ship that commands the fleet. Since there is no tactical combat in the game, I don't see how a flagship could be implemented. Stardock did say that they were looking into hero ships in GalcivIII so we might see something then.

Either way I usually just pretend some of my ships are flagships of the fleet either due to their level or their technology. In 1 year I designed 4 flagships... simply cause I kept getting better technology too fast, I kinda feal sorry for the first captain though

"Here it is, a ship of the line, the finest in the fleet and it's all yours"
*A month later*
"Yeah that ship we gave you is a POS and is obsolete, so basically you are commanding the first and last of it's class. You will be glad to know that your ship was the prototype for the future technology used for our new top of the line, espeically after we got that whole warp engine technology smaller."

Actually the flagship is upgradedable to any medium sized hull design. And it has seemed to be treated differently than other ships to me -- the other ships in a fleet get attacked before it does for the most part. And it retains the flagship name i believe. Noticed these things with update 1.2 .

Most of the time, my flagship has more HP than any other medium-hulled ship in my empire. Given the "threat" calculation used to pick priority targets in ship combat, the Flagship would be targeted after any other medium-hulled ship of the same overall design.

(At present, my flagship has more HP than any ship in the galaxy - it's been busy. So unless there are a bunch of obsolete ships with low attack ratings present, it won't be attacked until last.)

Well, flagships could grant bonus XP/kill to all ships in the fleet. Or grant bonus attacks, or whatever, as long as it's limited to a few/empires.

Does anyone else notice how the enemy won't sell their flagship even if you give them all your money, ships, planets, and influence. i,m thinking "god it's just a little shitty survey ship with a different name.
