Anyone reakon it'd be cool to have ship killers(build limit of 1) added??

Hearing bout 'terror stars' really sparked my interest... not to keen on destroyin planets.. (too valuable a resource   ) but having a single unique flagship for each civilisation i think would be rather cool?? I.e. u had the the super powerful scary death star & the super star destroyer flagship in star wars

If a shipkiller (1 shot superweapon on timer) was introduced or just allow a super huge hull that can be heavily outfitted and that there can only be 1 off in existance per civilisation i think would be rather neat??

Also in games where u got 'technological victory' turned off, anyone think that reaserching it should give some type of civilisation wide bonus/ability??

thoughts/ comments appreciated

Cheers

but death stars - planet killers - is good idea. I love Master of Orin 2 (MOO3 is bad joke).

Like the ship killer idea. sounds neat, but is it really practical? it would take a massive amount to produce, you'd need a specialized constructing planet, and even then it would probably take a while.

Also, Is it really worth it? 1 doom ship is nice, but it can only attack one ship at a time. and a large group of 1 man fighters with heavy weapons but little defence might hit it in an exaust port and blow it up! (or they would just overwhelm it with their attacks, you see the picture none the less)

In a small galaxy chances are bad that you'll even get to that level of development before you've either been whiped out, or killed the other guy, so you'd probably only use it in the larger ones.

like the idea of tech victory giving bomus or ability when turned off though. that does make sense. but it would have to be good to do all the research to get to that level.

A massive near undefeateble ship wouldn't be a that great, it would either be too unbalancing or it would be usless, you can easily kill most starbases and large ships in one hit with a few doom rays on the ship (even if the enemy has good defense).

Hey sort of sparked a thought -- how about rather than some huge offensive ship -- a ship that has huge HPs like say 500HPs, huge hulled size or maybe a little larger like 2X huge but huge logistics -- but only 1 per civ.
Say it could only regen 1HP/turn unless in orbit and if in orbit say 5HP/turn. Upgradable but doesn't recover HPs with upgrade.
Maybe make it a "Super Project" but built at a starport -- available when we get a certain tech like say Advanced Hulls.

Just a spur of the moment thought.

Might as well add an extra-wanted type of ship of mine; the recyclable Invasion Troop transporters!

It never squeezed into my imagination that whatever i had built and sent on a long trip to oblivion was simply lost. Planet taken, new peoples on the surfaces. Ship gone.

Now, i'd take a step forward into a high-cost new type of Invasion/Tactic; load 'hem up and know very well the ultimate spacecraft can be piloted back into another supply round for more conquest.
Call it, the champion of carriers which gains experience, upgrades with some features, loads many - more than once, etc.
Only to be attacked or destroyed on its way back to friendly space (crew of one aboard, busy with flying stuff rather than defensive weaponry -btw, 10+/pop remains (survivors of battle) after invasion by choice would be great to have also!). ;)

As for the battle-killer ship suggested... i can ALREADY just do that very same thingy - indirectly, that is.

You can't build an ultimate 'Super Project' invincible ship killer voluntarily. Even if you can build an invincible all-killing ship, nothing stops you from building more of them, and eventually some freak Peacekeepers will show up and revoke your invincibility.

But if you(or an AI) do get the Precursor Ranger early in the game when ships are still primitive small/medium hulls, you do get a one-shot 'ship killer'.

A true 'Super Project' ship would be an extremely fast and reusable Spore Ship.

I do not really see the point in this, if you are just a few weapon techs ahead, your one ship is nigh invincible compared to all lesser ships. Even more so with the addition of the ship component that adds 5hp to the ship. I have had a couple of games where I just tech until I can build one or two medium ships with high tech guns on and a lot of hp, and viola.. galactic domination all but ensured, even on the harder difficulities.
