trade and music question

Hey have 2 quick questions.

1. what gives you the most trade from a planet ( besides "the grreater the distance is blah, blah...) i mean does a having a bunch of manufactering do it, or economy boost buildings, higher happy pop.? any insight into getting the best bang for your buck with so little trade slots.

2. can I get my own music into the game...dont get me wrong i like the sound track but would like to put my own in it..

thanks for all your help

I'm not sure about the music question, but I can help you with the trade one.

While distance does figure into it, it also figures into the relation of the PQ and population of the planet the route starts from and the destination planets PQ and population. So if you have a planet thats further away, but is a lower quality and lower population than one thats closer but has a high population and PQ, you will get more money from the closer one because of the higher PQ and population. At least thats what I've heard and it's correct in general but the factors are a bit more complicated.

Try playing around with different origin and destination planets although I usually make all of them come from my homeworld, and see how it works.

You can change the music in the game by simply overwriting the mp3 files in GalCiv2/EventMusic (be sure to back them up first!). The custom playlist feature mentioned in the manual was cancelled after the manual went to print, so that is the only way to put music "in" the game aside from just running a separate music player in the background while you play.

Is there any hope of bringing the mp3 player back ? For me it's been sorely missed. Found I can run winamp, and have key macros to skip songs, but it's clumsy. (and eats up the precious memory gc2 loves to gobble up.)

What I'd really love to see is three loadable music lists for good, neutral, and evil.
