I'm not starting with any techs

For some reason whenever I start a new game I start out with no techs. It does this in metavers too so modding isn't the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

If you're playing as the 'custom race', you have the option to pick your starting techs, so make sure you actually do that when you begin a new game

If you have modified your custom race in a previous game, and not selected any starting techs, then it is probably still using those settings.

Next time you start a game, click on the Clear button in the "Customize Your Race" screen. That will reset the race back to defaults, which includes some starting techs.
