1.3 beta 2 bugs

Here we go again

1. The tech window seems awfully slow when scrolling. Not a real bug but annoyance still.

2. Military and social production tool tips dissapear in planet screen and do not show correct values. I have not yet been able to reproduce this, but it is definetly there.



Got the bug in yellow box, but still I have no idea how I got it. Maybe some random glitch, here is debug.err.

Does the tech tree always scroll slowly, or is it when you left click on a tech or right click on a tech, or does it only scroll slowly when dragging?

If you change your regional settings to English, does it still scroll slowly?

Hi,
i would say that the whole game is slowly. ( since second beta, today )
The bik-videos are slower
the ships in the small window ( in the menu )
and when a map was loaded ( or generated )
everything is slowly.
FPS throttle is activated.
I even changed the point/comma problem in the regional settings, ( what caused many problems).
I tried different settings, but nothing helps ( could forgot something )
here my debug.err on my "standard" settings ( where everything is "normal" in the non-beta games, even in the 1.3 beta1 games)

Yes it seems to be the evil regional settings at work again.

When I set my regional setting to United States the technology screen scrolls normally. With right clicking and dragging.

I have to test more if the problem #2 is also regional settings related.

I have reproduced the scrolling problem when I change my regional settings to non-English. We're looking into the problem...

I just accidentally changed my regional setting to English (united kingdom) and got the scrolling problem again.

Seems that only setting regional to English (united states) fixes the scrolling. Atleast for me.

That one happens when you have 0% military spending and are building Social on the planet.

Another bug is when there is 0% military spending and nothing Social is built. In this case, the tooltip will appear correctly but the text is bugged, it says "... Increase your spending ratio to at least 1 0.000000or social spending to be used."
"0.000000" should be "F".

Please Stardock, add the missing tooltips for social and research production.

Something fishy going on with latest beta when upgrading ships. The game screen informs that it takes "a week" to complete upgrade even if the upgrade is finished alrdy.

The reacently upgraded fleet still has the "upgrade : a week" message on it and also the upgrading icon over it. Even so I can move the ships after which the correct upgraded names appear on ship name box :/

I've had this happen too with 1.3 Beta 1. It still takes a week, but until you move the ship, it says it is still upgrading. It was a huge size game, two other races. All ships were made with jewelry. No imported hulls, or other goodies.

When you get a chance, please post a debug.err for your games that have the upgrade problem? This file can be found in c:/program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2.

I have reproduced this bug in my game. Here is the save game and debug.err, ill send em to the [email protected] aswell.

To reproduce the bug do the following:

Select "korx lord 2" ship and upgrade them all to "korx lord 3". You can find lots of these ships just above starting position. The upgrading icons do not appear above the fleets untill you actually select the fleets with these ships.

Not tried the fix but using UK settings the tech tree is very slow for me too. To be honest i am seeing the same slowdown in the game that all the others a re reporting and i have current drivers etc. The lag doesnt seem to be a huge one at start but gigantic games are suffering from the start.

BTW i also noticed that the '#' symbol is in the wrong place on a uk querty layout. It now resides under the '4' key?? Been like this since the start 1.1 but seen as there are now other regional issues

Have you actually looked at your debug.err?
I think not, because if you did, you must have realised that >90% of it was pointless to post. The beginning (your computer data) and the end (you know, where the bug happens) would most likely have been sufficient and wouldn't have made scrolling through the thread such a bother.

Thank you for submitting your game and providing instructions to reproduce it.

It looks like the problem only affected the fleets. I found the source of the problem and it has been fixed for the next update.

I have posted a similar issue with fleets but am unsure if its related. My other thread wasn't noticed, apparently, but I hope you can take a look at it as well.

Basically, when I upgrade a ship mid-transit (normally colonizer to constructor), the destination point never clears from the map after the (new constructor) reaches its destination. It occurs in every instance. I assume its a matter of some variable not being cleared and it may be tied into this 1 week bug with the computer thinking the original ship was never upgraded.

I tried setting the destination for a colony ship and hitting turn a few times. Then I upgraded the ship to a constructor. The ship upgraded for a couple turns, then finished and kept moving to the destination. The destination cursor disappeared when it got there.

Can you please post your debug.err file?

I am getting a bug where the planet quality doesn't display correctly when using the planet quality ability bonus. Without the planet quality bonus I get a class 10 planet to start with. If I use the planet quality bonus I get the same class 10 planet, but it's labeled as a class 12. I don't think this bug was present before the beta, but it was in beta 1 and is now in beta 2 and 2(a).

I just found a bug where randomly in the middle of my sandbox game (don't know how many turns, but a lot...4 hours or so of gameplay worth) the "turn" button dissappears. I know the AI isn't going and I can interact with the game in every way but to press the turn button. It's not like the button won't click, it seriouly just isn't there in the intrface. I tried loading autosave game and it gave me the whole tech choice and "earth creatures..." window, and still the turn button isn't there.

The tooltip bug I reported in as very first bugs in this thread seems to be happening in 1.3 beta 2a right from the start. That is if you set your regional setting to some other than English (united states).

Ok maybe not, since now I get the tooltip bug even if I set regional setting to English (united states). Sending the save game and debug.err to [email protected]

One of the trade goods (I forget now which one it is) says that all ships can now survey. This does not appear to be true. I had a ship that was an explorer (could only explore) and after I bought the trade good (first owner) I still could not survey with that ship. I didn't any other ships, other than colonizers at that point in the game and I did not look to see if the colonizer could survey.

Was it called the galactic guide book? it isnt a trade good but the only thing you could speak of. it should work but i never built it.

Does this occur when colonizing the planet? After defecting the planet? After conquering the planet?

I tried colonizing a class 10 with a 20% PQ Bonus and got a class 12 planet with 12 tiles.
