Crash when I hit windows key

Everytime I hit the windows key (ie. get the taskbar) or an annoying antivirus popup, i get can't get back to galciv2. The screen is just black, and i have to ctrl alt del and start over. How do I keep this from happening? Is there a windowed mode? Thanks!

When I hit the windows key and then return back to the game, it usually takes about 30secs to come back from black screen. Are you waiting long enough?

The game can take some time to return after alt-tabbing or otherwise switching to another program, because it has to re-load all of the models into memory (it clears them when you switch out so your other programs can get what they need). Be sure first that it isn't just taking its time returning, as opposed to genuinely freezing.

Run in windowed mode. Even if the game resolution is the same as the desktop and the game appears to run full screen, it will alt-tab a lot better.
