Dear god

This is [I]really[/I] hard :p

I started to play against the AI on ultimate intellegence(they all had ultimate) and it is insanely hard. I even edited a custom race file to max points on all bonuses to where I had like negative 50 racial bonus points and still I got walked all over.

Has anyone actually beaten an AI on this level? Oh, it was on gigantic map, conquest only victory, slow research, and rare planets habitable planets with close together stars. (I was in the middle of the map and good planets, but to no avail)

You can edit the .raceconfig file so that you do not end up with negative points - just don't use values that are the same as the options.

For example, you could set it up like this:

[ECONOMICS]100[/ECONOMICS]
[WEAPONS]40[/WEAPONS]
[DEFENSE]50[/DEFENSE]
[SPEED]90[/SPEED]
[MORALE]60[/MORALE]
[POPULATIONGROWTH]65[/POPULATIONGROWTH]
[SOCIALPRODUCTION]50[/SOCIALPRODUCTION]
[MILITARYPRODUCTION]70[/MILITARYPRODUCTION]
[RESEARCH]100[/RESEARCH]
[INFLUENCE]5[/INFLUENCE]
[TRADE]20[/TRADE]
[DIPLOMACY]0[/DIPLOMACY]
[HITPOINTS]40[/HITPOINTS]
[REPAIR]90[/REPAIR]
[SENSORS]15[/SENSORS]
[ESPIONAGE]0[/ESPIONAGE]
[SOLDIERING]35[/SOLDIERING]
[INTERESTRATES]0[/INTERESTRATES]
[PLANETQUALITY]30[/PLANETQUALITY]
[TRADEROUTES]0[/TRADEROUTES]
[CRIME]0[/CRIME]
[CABINET]0[/CABINET]
[RANGE]130[/RANGE]
[LUCK]75[/LUCK]
[COURAGE]25[/COURAGE]
[CREATIVITY]0[/CREATIVITY]
[GOVERNMENT]0[/GOVERNMENT]
[LOYALTY]100[/LOYALTY]
[LOGISTICS]100[/LOGISTICS]
[MINIATURIZATION]600[/MINIATURIZATION]

And you will end up with 0 available points. Not over, not under.

I know that, but what I'm trying to say is: even if you max out all natural racial stats, meaning putting all stats to their natural maximum, it is impossible to win against an ultimate AI.

Then this game does not have an ultimate AI.
(If this AI were ultimate, then that first planet (PQ 20 by the way) I had just invaded from the Drengi would have had SOMETHING built on it, or building on it. As it was, it had nothing. Not a factory, not a starport, not a farm. Nothing, it was completely empty. That is not the mark of an ultimate AI.)

It is not that difficult to beat it if you max out the bonuses like that. In fact, it is all too easy. All you have to do is out research them, and you really can't lose.

The only way you could lose is if you simply had no grasp of the game mechanics.

I have plenty knowledge of game mechanics. HAve you played on ultimate on a gigantic map? It is near impossible to out research the Altarians the honest way.

I did not think we were talking about the "honest way", as you wrote:
"I even edited a custom race file to max points on all bonuses to where I had like negative 50 racial bonus points and still I got walked all over."

Maxing out bonuses in the raceconfig file is not the honest way. And if you are doing that, then it is easy to out research any of the AI's.

And yes, I play on gigantic with 8-9 civs at suicidal, and I have upped both the PQ and number of home system planets for both myself as well as all the races. And I posted the bonus section of my own raceconfig file.

My research path is geared towards getting the NLC as soon as possible. And once those are in place no one out-researches me.

I was trying to say it's Insanely difficult to win with cheats it must be near impossible to win without cheats. (yes I have a feeling someone is going to say "then don't play on ultimate AI settings")

I agree, it is nearly impossible to win at suicidal without cheats.
It's meant to be that way, though. Just look at the huge bonuses the AI gets at that level.

No it isn't, I do it all the time, so do several other players.

As for this new ULTIMATE level I can't comment as I have not tried it yet. Looking forward to the challenge.

It really comes down to who can get the most planets out of the planet rush. If you know how to do this correctly and effectivly then you can win the majority of games. For example I was playing a game on a large map with 9 other civs set on painful difficulty. After the first planet rush I had about 40% of the planets all to myself (and remember this is a large map, so it is a bit small:)). And this was all without cheats...

Of course, it is fun to cheat against an AI that has +130% economics. I think that justifies cheating don't you think?

Playing the 1.2 update I win suicidal/9 opponents/gigantic map/normal planets/normal research rate/ tech trading enabled all the time. Have won with large map/4 opponents too. Have also won with gigantic map/abundant planets -- but that was real easy as the AI is poor with having to colonize more than 20 planets ( about 40 planets/player with gigantic/abundant planets vs 20 planets/player with gigantic normal planets).
