Things that should be buffed/altered in the expansion.

What things do you guys consider underpowered in GC II as we see it now- things you never build.

I can think of a few things off the top of my head...

1) Planetary defense. THat thing almost never does any good for its opportunity cost. It really should make a planet a tough nut to crack. Maybe have it square root the attacker's invasion factor?

2) Galactic Guide Book. This comes too late in the game. This good should be avaliable at Stellar cartography I think...

IMHO, planetary defense should be an upgrade to the orbital fleet manager, so planetary defense gives you the bonuses of both in one tile.

Anomalies disappear way to quickly, survey ship is too slow, it should be faster.

I want for the mass driver weapon not to look like shit, and for the firing to look different. Also I want a lot more random events and minor races, I used to love reading a new random event, and I want them to be more common and have much greater effects on the game. I also want your allys to actually help you in war, that's why your given the option to ally, dammit it's getting to the point that I don't ever ally anymore and then it ends up me against everyone!

I would like to have much more MUSIC in GalCiv2 Expansion!

there are ways to do that without the devs doing it for you, also, even if you want more music, it may end up bieng not what you want.

as for planetary defense, I don't see it bieng very useful, or the effect is difficult to notice, even the AI doesn't build them very much. Still, the new planet habitability stuff could actually hint to a possible method of defense, such as the planet itself providing a 'debuff' for example if it is very toxic or is high gravity and you don't have the technology to adapt to it. It might make things pretty complicated, but its a thought.

I would also like to have some different ground battle animations, and perhaps each race have a different style of tanks, etc for thier ground troops, maybe linked to the hull style. and also have some animations to go with various tactics, such as hundreds of meteors falling from the sky due to mass drivers, and have core explosion (or is it implosion?) actually produce some sort of visual affect because a core implosion sounds like it should be devastating, so I want the battle vid to look devastating.

I agree with the galactic guide book, it has very bad timing, but we'll have to see what else is going on in Dark Avatar.

I'm trying to keep this to current gameplay, not anything else. Seeing what options are undervalued, so the devs can patch those...

Id like them to work on the compatibility of the GC2 3d engine with 3DS Max and the X-Format so that GC2 correctly displays models with tiled-textures/materials and also correctly autoscales the size of animated models on the galactic map.

I think fast early colonization should cost more or be more dangerous. There's really no reason not to colonize every planet you can.

I wish there were stronger methods for defending your civ from attack, to make sneak attacks less deadly. Military starbases don't really work for this, they're too expensive unless you're evil, and they are just as easy to use for offense as for defense.

The starbase fortification line of techs are too expensive for what they do.

Small hull sizes are pretty much made obsolete by the larger sizes. And it's weird that large ships make better use of engines than small ships.
