Battle Firing Order

Quick question, in a battle with fleets what is the order of firing? Is it random or do your ships fire at the most powerful ship first?

Thanks for your time

The AI seems to target damaged ships as a priority, tho if all ships are at full potential, it probably goes thru some calculation weighing defenses, HPs and firepower.

Following the games development history, I doubt its just a flat equation. Each race probably has its own AI on which ships to attack when...

It's attack/defences+HP or something like that. It takes out the easiest to defeat ships first.

Thanks for the reply

So after damaged ships, the AI will go for the LEAST powerful ship determined by weighing its firepower, defense, etc...

Although it varies between race? What about game difficulty?

cheers!

Edit: Sorry I didn't see your post!

Wouldn't it be nice if we had some control over what our ships priorities are in a battle. Like most/least powerful, largest/smallest, most/least advanced etc.

Not really. Although it undervalues the power of defenses somewhat, the current formula is about the most efficient way to win in a battle to the death; each side attacks the ship whose destruction will most efficiently decrease that side's attack power.

They don't target the weakest ship, I they target the one with the most firepower. On one of my games I had a fleet that had a bunch of little fighters with one plasma, but my big ship had several doom rays and much more defenses than any other ship, but the enemy always targeted it first, hehe fleet never even got scratched cause of that.

The doom rays outranked it. Plasma gives it an attack power of 2, which means you would need to almost equal your attack and defence for anything else to be considered.
