Downloaded Beta by mistake

Sometime ago I downloaded the Beta thru Stardock and now am unable to see/view ships and planets on the main playing screen. After reading thru several posts I now realize that I am now running an unperfected updated version of the initial program.

Is there anything that I can do about this? I purchased by downloading the program off the net so therefore do not have the original program to re-install. Great game but really can't play it any longer as it is!

Well, you should try one of the following:
- restore an archive, if you have let SDC to auto-archive on update
- uncheck the "show pre-release version". And update button should appears next GC2, allowing you to donwload the latest release version
- go to the download area of this site and get the 1.2 retail patch. With some luck, all fiels that were modified by the beta will be overwritten by this patch

Barring all else, just toggle the 'show pre-release versions' option off, uninstall, and reinstall.

You can redownload the game and install it as many times as you like.

heh - i think he means just to avoid having to uninstall, and reinstall the game and then reinstall the patch...

but it is unlikely going to work that way... b/c assume 10 components in the game (letters A-J for reference) 1.1 -> 1.2 has 3 fixes covering C, D, F, but 1.2 -> 1.3 beta has 4 fixes D, F, I, J. reinstalling 1.2 would relikely only convert part D back to 1.2 and leave everything else intact...

Well, I was speaking about the 1.2 retail update patch with patch everything since the 1.0 version. So lots of things are updated by this patch. but your are right, that is why I was speaking about being lucky

In any case, you can always update your version to the latest non beta version. Just uncheck the "show prerelease version" in SDC.

And having SDC automatically archiving your current version before updating is very nice to recover fastly from this kind of things
