1.3 beta 1 bugs

Thought to start your basic bug report thread, since there are couple glaring bugs to be found.

The game is patched in this order. Original game from cd -> 1.2 official patch from SD -> 1.3 beta patch from SD.

1. Yor and Thalan ship models lack all jewelry. This is on race selection screen and in game.

2. Planets are full of mountain terrain and all tiles aligned horizontally. I have tryed this one only with Yor couple times. No idea if other races suffer the megalo mountain symptom.



3. The Randomize race does not work right still. I selected randomize races and set the difficulty back and forth couple times and settled with Tough. All the other races reacted to difficulty slider changes exept Thalans and Iconians as you can see from this little debug.err copy/paste

We have already fixed the bugs with the missing jewelry, bad planet surfaces, missing fleet icons, and the wrong intelligence string on the Foreign stats.  I'm still going to have to make sure that my fixes have not broken character entry (ie for naming ships) for the non English versions.

You can ignore those missing OBJIDs from the stacked ship window.  They're no longer used.

The other ones were reported after I left on Friday, so I'll have to check into them.

oh I see, I didn't know that about the missing OBJIDs.

and thats cool that you have the fixes done already, when will the patch update (with the fixes you just mentioned) be released? the fleet bug is getting annoying even though I've been tolerating it for the last couple days knowing that its a beta and the fix should be soon.

Saw the same issue with the planets list- running the 1.3 beta, started a new large game. Didn't seem to happen right away, but only as I had more planets in the list. I get this on very frequent basis as I bring up the planets list.

Clicking on foreign and then mine brings the tech list back with all of my planets. I bring this up again (was reported several times in this thread already) only as CariElf said that they had fixed some bugs, but hadn't mentioned anything for this one.

Silly question, can someone point me where more info about debug.err and crash reporting is? I've had one crash, but was able to restart without further occurrence. If I get hit again, I'd like to be able to do a full report. Thanks for all your work. The beta has been very playable for me.

I've noticed that fleets made up from obsolete ships have a blank icon. Disbanding and then recreating the fleet results in a blank icon :S

This is happening to me as well. Only it is not just obsolete ships. ALL fleets are showing a blank thumbnail/icon, as soon as 2 or more ships are formed into a fleet.

I cam across a potential bug, but I don't have time right now to explore it. I purchased a ship from a AI earlier and used it for some exploring. Exploring is done so it is time to start upgrading my few purchased ships from the AI. I only had one of this class of ship but when I went to the upgrade screen it gave me the option to upgrade 48 of the ships. I did not do that at that time. However I am wondering if this is the case in that I am actually upgrading the AI ships or if I am spending money on nothing. I could see a potential abuse her in that if you have that strong AI out there you, if you can purchase one class (defender) of ship you could upgrade it and destroyed there ships much easier during the upgraded. I may try it out when get a chance to play again or perhaps some one could examine this.

With v1.3b only one embassy can be built. After that one no other planet in the empire can construct one.

(small request...lest I hope it is small)
Would it be possible to have the planet list be able to be reversed? As in when you have a couple hundred planets on a huge+ map and want to see those that have lower approval rating you have to scroll down to the bottom every time to get to those planets. It would be nice if the list could be flipped so that those would be at the top.

You can do that already by clicking a second time on the "approval" column.

Researching the technology does not produce the stated 'Subspace Anihilator'; it doesn't give any weapon at all.

I've had the problem where you can't build a starbase on a resource after destroying the enemies starbase. (this existed in 1st version or two)

I'm assuming a save reload will fix, but didn't start the game back up last night.

-One of the Thalan Medium-Hulls is buggy, when I attach a module, it will appear on another position and is not removable other than using the "clear"-button.
-When tech-trading is set to "off", opponents will still say "You are to poor to pay for our peacekeeping affords, so we demand a tech." Actually they are content with almost no money and no tech at all.
-In my recent game the terrans started as brain-dead and did nothing but letting themselfes be conquered once someone had the appropriate tech.
-Superior Durathium armor is far better than it should be. It has 4 Defense while only using 6 spaces on a ship for 70 BC. It is even better than Kanvium which comes much later. I put that on a couple of ships and they dominated a long time because they took almost no damage.

Any news on the release of 1.3.2(or whatever)? As much as I'm enjoying 1.3, the memory leak is killing the fun. I get a hard lock up after about a year of game time and I have to restart my pc. Since it is hard locking I do not get an exception from SmartException to send in. Just curious if we might be getting close to the release since it was mentioned last week that a fix to the leak had been found.

Yes; the release was supposed to happen last week on Friday. But Brad Wardell's wife went into labor, and so he scooted off to the hospital. I assume it will be released this week sometime instead, but I wouldn't hold it against him if he stays away from work for a while to be with his wife and new child.
