Two Players?

Hi GalCiv Gamers,

this might be a really stupid question... I just bought the game and would like to play against a friend of mine (via DSL...)

Is this possible? If yes, how? Metaverse?

Don't laugh...

There is no multiplayer.

The metaverse is more like a massive scoreboard...

I have the same problem, my friends are goody-goody, nooberific strategy gamers that I would like to soundly abuse, I use the metaverse to talk trash against them. (Yes I realize that my metaverse standings are only meager, but my friends are really inept at anything that isn't a FPS)

Hi,

thanks for the reply! That's a pity... since this game is not real-time (like many other strategic games, I was hoping to play it against friends (or enemies ). The round-based concept is just perfect for people that have to work all day (poor me... ) and would like to play some minutes/hours per day. Making moves, building the universe, than click on "turn" and than wait for the others to do their moves - without having the "stress" of regular real-time strategic games.

Are there ideas from Stardock to implement something like that?

Nevertheless, the game is just awesome! I'm happy I bought it!

If there's enough interest. Currently the MP community here are a loud, often trolling, minority. So it doesn't look like MP will be added, as previous polls have shown it wouldn't be profitable enough.

Heck I am all for it, and so is a friend. We kept waiting for a worthwile game after master of orion 2, and this would be it!

This is my first post, so hello everyone.

When I first bought this game I assumed it was multi-player(my bad for not reading close enough), anyway I hadn't planned on playing the (non-exsistant)multi-player aspect, until after I played my fisrt game. I for one think it would be a blast to play a co-operative game against the AI with a friend, but what will be, will be.

There is a way to play a two player hot seat game. That means you would have to play on the same computer. Or, you might be able to share the game save back and forth. In other words, take a turn, save the game, send the file, rinse and repeat. The instructions are in the "Did you know you could do this" sticky thread.

Hmm, turn based multiplayer seems like it would be fun, maybe good for the metaverse because you could add in an emp vs emp where a champion from one empire fights another champion. would probably take a long while to finish, and 2 players could gang up against comps and rule the universe, then stab each other in the back right before finishing off the last enemy and go one on one. either way, it would be fun, long, but fun.

You can't use it with metaverse, since it requires the use of cheat codes.

I agree - a hotseat mode would be wonderful.

I remember many evenings and nights spent playing Warlords III: DLR in hotseat mode. This game, being so complex, would a delight to play.

Oh well. Finally figured out to get my old Warlords DLR to work in XP...
