The game stucks the computer

Hi,

I installed "Galactic civilization" and tried to run it.
On the first attempt, a message appeared and required me to install a newer version of DirectX.
I installed it, but still - every time I run the game - the computer gets stuck right after the opening movie,
and I have to reboot it.

I have a pentium 4 2.8 with 1GB RAM.
My video card is a Radeaon 9100 with 64MB (on board).

Do you have a solution for this problem?

Thanks!

Well, possibly you need to update your video drivers.   If you check in your debug.err file, it prints out information about your video card, etc.  If the driver date for your video card is less than 2005, you probably need to update it.

One thing you could try is to go to your My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2 folder and edit the prefs.ini.  You can turn off anti-aliasing by setting Multisample=0.  You can turn off the intro by setting SkipIntro=1.

If you continue to have problems, e-mail your debug.err file to [email protected] with a description of what is happening.

Windows Update has a network driver update for me that bluescreens my laptop. That's one update I can do without

Thanks everyone - updating the video card driver solved the problem.
actually - other games that did work - are now working faster and better.

I bid you all a good day!
