Noticed that Sword of the Stars demo is coming out tomorrow on Fileplanet. This should be an excellect 4X RTS space based game as many of the people who worked on Homeworld Cataclysm are working on SotS. Follow the link to a preview along with screenshots and a video.

I just played around for it a little while. It feels a bit too simplistic when used to Gal Civ2. I really mis the planetary improvements, the detailed diplomacy and the cool ship designer.

Although very basic, I like the RTS mode though. Something I would like to have seen in Galciv2

Several websites gave it average/poor reviews. I think the major concern was balancing. Then again, I only scanned the reviews.
