Cant register because im not registered?

Ive already sent an e-mail to support, but that might take a bit.
I bought a copy yesterday from EB, in australia, straight after installing i downloaded 1.2, and installed it, when trying to start it, it asked for the serial key, (second time, i put it in when i installed) so i put in that and my e-mail, it claimed that this serial wasnt registered to that e-mail, which surprised me, because thats what i thought i was doing. I figured i might need an accoun on the site, i made one, and it asked for my serial again, i put it in, and again "this serial is not registered to that e-mail." So i tried to update it from SDC, there was another error, something to do with another e-mail. This might of made some sense if this game was second hand, but EB here dont even sell 2nd hand computer games.
Any ideas on how to actually register this to my account? so that i can actually register it...

ive already registered there, after which it asked me to put in my serial, which i did, and it said it wasnt registered.

Hmm, ive heard back from support, apparently my key has already been used.
This is surprising, as i bought it new, although im thinking it was a game that someone returned to eb after registering for whatever reason. In which case i dont see the harm in them transfering the registration to me.

Although i cant update it, 1.0 is very good, i just hope they allow me to fully use the game i legitimately bought.

They even suggested i buy another key... i already bought the game once this week, i dont want to spend more on it.

Hmm if you can provide proof of receipt to stardock via happy snaps of the receipt, box and serial they MIGHT(I've got no say) be willing to provide you a new one prior to them contacting the person with the said serial in use and possibly cancelling that persons serial and invalidating it in upcoming patches. But I think you can at least update it to 1.10x bonus pack dated 030306 manually if you can manage to find a link on the web somewhere if it still exists. Otherwise have you been in contact with the EB store about your predicament?

Used copies aren't supported (thus the suggestion to buy a new serial). In this case, it was EB that screwed you, so if you want to get a new one that hasn't been registered (without having to buy it again), you'll have to go talk to them.

I'm having the same problem.

I just registered my NEW Collector's edition. It took the Collector Serial, but not the regular. I don't see how it can be used, it's just been sitting in the box under my desk at home....

I have exactly the same problem with my version - also Limited Edition in the tin box. It says the serial is invalid. It isn't, and it has never been used by anyone else.

Am I stuck with version 1.0? I remember something about registering the collector's edition if bought in the UK and how it was different - but I've only come back to play GalCiv2 again in the past week, looking for V1.3.

i've had the same annoying problem

i bought the limited edition version from a GAME shop in England, the one i bought didnt come with a serial beacuse apparently by mistake the collectors edition versions in the UK didnt have the serial printed so i applied for a serial through this site via a link on the homepage that has since been removed, now i cant activate my version with the serial they gave me because according to them that serial is not registered to my email address and they dont have any record of me actually owning GalCiv2 even though i set up a stardock account when i first got the game a while back

any help to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated

DarkRonin: You are saying your game came with no serials at all, not even a CE serial?

I had the same prob. I emailed the sdc peeps from the sdc email help and they emailed me a new serial that allowed me to update though the update engine continues to say that my email is not assoc with any serial. try to email them. THey got back to me in one day.

yep, my game came with no serial number at all i was told it was a printing error

i had to get a serial through this site

I am having the exact same problem. It seems several of us on the forums are all experiencing these activation issues. My copy came right from Game Stop and was previously unopened (I removed the cellophane wrapper around the jewel case myself). I'd really like someone from Stardock to respond to the many queries regarding activation on this forum. Oh, and "go buy another copy" isn't going to satisfy any of your customers.

It might be a bit more useful to contact [email protected] yourself. The reply he gets won't be very helpful for your own problems, if it was a missing serial

Which problem? There are two different problems discussed in this thread. Please be a little more specific so we can provide useful advice to your situation.
