adv. troop modules

Just wondering if you put those modules on a combat ship and use it in battle and then to take over a planet will you lose your ship like you lose your transports when you conquer/fail to take the planet?

A troop transport is just a ship with the transport module attached. It does not matter if it has weapons or not, it is still considered a troop transport.

And yes, you will always lose the ship during an invasion.

The better option is to make a fleet with several troop transports combined with a battle cruiser or two. The battleships must be destroyed before the troop transports are even fired on, and you won't lose any more ships by invading with a fleet than you would if you invaded with single ships.
