Is there a way to mass upgrade ships? Or a fast way?

I recently found myself in a situation where I had to upgrade 160 ships. And it takes alot of time, finding them, then upgrading them one at a time..

Any shortcuts here?

There is a little box that says upgrade all ships off this type. its on the right near the top.

Yeah but one time I clicked that box and it didn't upgrade any.

The ships have to be exactly the same. If you have 1 ship of destroyer type A, 3 of B, and 2 of C, where they're all the same except for a weapon - clicking on the upgrade all button for type A will only upgrade type A.

And, the closer the ship is to one of your worlds, the faster it will upgrade.
It will always take at least 1 turn, but could take several if they are far away.

Also, while they are upgrading they only have one movement point and are vulnerable to attack.
