creating new ship catagory

i understand that ship styles are broken up, like humans is 0. is there a way to create a whole new catagory? i downloaded all the star trek ships and i would like to put them all in there own catagory and make a new race.

I'd recommend changing the title to style instead of category. Tiny, Small, etc are called the ship's category in the xml. Your thread may be overlooked by someone who has the answer. I'm also sorry to say that I don't know if this is possible through modding.

I heard a rumor that it could be done with the aid of GUI modding. I'm clueless as far as that's concerned, so I can't help you any more than that.

You can have the ships as Style 7 and assign it to the race using these ships. That way you can have more then 6 styles, just not selectable.
