1.3 beta delay

Got some bad news, our internal network ISP has been down all day today which has restricted our ability to upload files to the servers.

As a result, the 1.3 beta is going to be delayed a few days. Sorry about that. Stay tuned.

Could we at least get a prelim changelog?

I have a question. I'm using 1.2 version right now. Will we need to confirm our serial number etc again for 1.3 or not? I'm asking cuz you know we had some trouble about confirming our original registration number.I hope if so we don't have any trouble again in 1.3.

OH DRATS! Can we have some change info on 1.3? (or 1.4???)

Once you have succesfully registered, you don't need to register again.

Another good point; given that gameplay altering updates are over as of 1.2, what/will there be 1.4?

Must.... defeat.... AI....

Can you tell us when you think it will be released?

I really want v1.3.

Thanks!

Thanks for the info! Thanks for trying! I'll reiterate what others have said, go home, enjoy your families and we'll get 1.3 when it's ready. It just makes it all the more sweater when it arrives.

Well, people, if the beta was ready to be uploaded today... and the only thing delaying it was a freak internet outage... I would _imagine_ that if the connection was back online come Monday...  we might just see the beta then.

We've got a new date set for the 1.3 beta -- Thursday is the date of the next release window.

Two words "oh Cr*p".

If there was actually good games to play at the moment (new ones) the dissapointment would not be so great. But no good in hiding it, Iam waiting 1.3 like a rising moon over here

Gives me a couple extra days to do AI work.

Yep my dramatics went bit overboard

You could feed the raging fan mob by throwing us a bone or two. Maybe tell us in general what areas of AI has been enchanted in 1.3? Keeps us settled for the couple extra days

So here's your choice: Have the devs spend some of the next couple days working on keeping the fans informed, or have the devs spend the next couple days working on fine-tuning the game.

Glad to hear you're working on next beta. What with release of the new website and forums, I'm sure it's been busy.

Keep up the good work

Out of interest - will v1.3 be Vista (build 5472) compatible???? (instead of saying its unable to create a screen and yes I'm using proper ATI drivers)
All of GC2 should be vista compatible, at least with the configurations in use at Stardock...

I very much doubt it. SD alrdy has its hands full fixing all the bugs with current supported OS. I just don“t see the point by starting officially supporting a OS that is currently in beta stage. To me its just like begging for trouble.

edit:

Looks like you got a better reply from a in house source

@18#

In my part of the world copy/pasteing a change log does not take a full day. Seeing how SD has posted very long journals in the past, I hardly find my request to be unreasonable. Certainly not worth your attacking and offensive reply.

Sorry, must have been something I ate.

A change log is a valuable thing, but it would be even more so if it were written to include the changes being made over the next couple days.

Wouldn't you rather see an official change log that shows all the changes that actually made it into v1.3?

Non taken

Yes well since the beta is coming out tomorrow, guess wanting a half hurry made change log does not suit any purpose anymore.

One thing that puzzles me still is the question, is 1.3 patch going to be the final patch to GC2? Since I remember reading somewhere Frogboy stating that this will be the "first" 1.3 patch. My memory could be wrong.

Having witnessed the great support GC2 has gotten to this day is remarkable, so 1.3 being the final patch would be ok. Seeing how the trend goes now days, a game is lucky to get even two patches in its life cycle. Iam kinda crossroads with this, should SD continue with DA with full speed after 1.3 or divert little resources (Frogboys sleepless nights ) to keep enchanting the original GC2.

#18 said "All of GC2 should be vista compatible, at least with the configurations in use at Stardock..."

What configurations are in use at Stardock? I had another play last night and I did manage to get GC2 "running" but none of the images were appearing when setting up a game. The intro movie displayed properly as did the front menu (new game/etc) but the rest of the 'new game' setup only has the outside borders and nothing within them.

I'm still seeing a lot of failed permission access etc etc with GC2 as well, which proves the accessing (creating/reading/writing) of files is not being done "properly" as per Microsoft 'rules'. Use the Application Verifier to see this - its available from Connect.

#22 - if Stardock follow the correct programming rules, then GC2 (actually all their progs) will be 100% compatible with Vista.

I'm just slightly pushing this one because GC is the only program I have that does not work on Vista and thus its the reason I'm not on Vista full time Yes, good old greed!

Cheers!
