Newbie Q, how to get more spaceports?

Title says it all really? Do I have to have a certain tech? if so what path is it on. I'm only on my first game and have colonized two other planets so far and am already feeling like my one spaceport on my home planet isn't enough. thanks in advance for any replies

Yeah I've scrolled though the list, are there pre-requsites that im missing?

You can only have one spaceport per planet. If you want to accelerate ship production, you have to build more factories.

there is a hyperion shipyard which increases the speed of your ships production....if thats what you mean...but thats a galatic wonder, if im not mistaken.

Are you suggesting that you are unable to BUILD new starports on a planet? You CAN build 1 starport perplanet - see the list of buildings available when you examine a planet (I hope my thinking that thats his problem is correct - if not !!)
