Beta 4A - Minor races are still building galactic wonders like crazy

In this game it's the Kwilasians rather than the Carinoids that are building wonders and tradegoods like crazy.

I don't see how the minor races have the resources to be outbuilding all the major races not to mention Brad's comment a while back to the effect that the minor races shouldn't be able to build wonders.

Same game...the Kwilasians have built all the trade goods and all the wonders available so far and they have a massive technology lead over all the major races

Strange, I never see this. They are always wimps and ripe for picking in my games.

I notice this as well though its not happening every game anymore. Generally its the Carnoids or the scotlingas for me.

I wonder what causes this? I have yet to play a game where this happens... what size of map does it usually happen in?

I tend to play the largest map size available. It gives me more options to beat the game to death. Things are so compressed in the smaller map sizes that I don't have time to explore all the options in the game.

I play on the gigantic galaxy all the time and have NEVER seen this happen.

I sent a save game that demonstrated the phenomenon to Cari a few weeks ago but I don't know what happened to it. I thought it appropriate as it was the Carinoids.

In 4 games on largest size only saw this once, but only built a coiple items before they were conquered by one of major empires .. can't recall which of the minor empires was though.
Still think the building priorities of the empires (major and minor) is wrong .. why if minor build 6-8 colonizers if only have one other system to colonize in the sector and major after all systems colonized keep building colonizers???

In pretty much all my games the minor races are way too powerful and build way too many wonders. In one game (on large) the Alexians had taken four yellow stars while I had only 2, and they had two more techs. In another game on gigantic, the I-league destroyed the altarians and the torians, all while building all wonders and trade goods possible and getting huge wads of cash and influence. This really pisses me off because aren't minor races supposed to be primitive civilizations?

Err this is an ancient thread. Notice the last post is from January. Anyhow the current problems with minors are from increases to their aggressiveness in the last patches, whereas before that they had been fine since the beta... Lots of people have complained about this so hopefully they'll get toned down a bit in the next patch.

I've seen them building bunches of wonders and stuff in the beginning, but I usually end up building all the wonders and trade goods that are important to me.

I've noticed (besides the expansion which we already know about and is in the pipeline for fixing so I believe) that minors seem to be very VERY quick to gain Trade Goods and Wonders over everyone else... crazy!

I'd personally prefer it if the minors couldn't build trade goods or wonders. I mean, if a minor can expand and build both trade goods and wonders, it's not really a minor, is it? :)

I view minors as sort of like the Germanic tribes that were on the northern border of the Roman empire: not primitives by any means, but also not capable of major civil feats (like wonders/trade goods). So I don't mind that they can expand now, but I do want them limited from the 'upper' game functions.
