Supreme commander

Yep.  There is a reason why Stardock isn't releasing any major new games in 2007. 

Seriously - I cannot say with certainty that I would be able to dedicate the time needed to finish developing a game next year.  Total Annihilation consumed me totally and I plan to spend a LOT of time playing Supreme Commander.

I'm still playing TA. it is the ONLY GAME I HAVE NEVER GOT BORED OF. Even Galciv 2 requires time where you don't play. (Mainly because my Huge fleets were crushed and my empire was ruined, And then I can't play again because I'm afraid that will happen again :o)

I cant get into this from work.

I am a big fan of RTS games (yes I have GC II)
Can anyone tell me a little about supreme commander?

I watched the HighQuality trailer and man am I impressed.

When I saw the map zooming out to like 5km so you see masses of blue and red gives a great overview. And then when he zoomed in to the middle where blue and red met were so cool. Some Cybran (red) ships went up to land and blue had like a 100 mechs. It was really zoomed in too. Then all of a sudden this BIG laserbeam comes and cuts through 5 or so mechs on each curve (it attacks within certain degrees). MAN that thing was BIG! The blue things looked like ants compared to a strawberry. Never thought it would blow up ^^

Yay, Supreme commander slated for release in January.

And then the view zoomed out alittle more and showed the 2 brothers of the big laser spider thing along with their friends...

Hey guys if you go to google.com click on videos and then type in supreme commander and look for the latest video that is 29mins long. it came out at the end of august and is a great video clip. In jan or feb all i will be playing is Sup Com, GCIIDA, BF2142 and Mass Effect ahhh can wait.

I hope the gameplay is not as cheesy and the graphics and backstory.

Holy shit after playing the SC beta because of all the hype I keep reading here I must say this game has got bomb/flop written all over it,even the eye candy can't save it.

Does anybody actually like the beta?

Let us hope that it doesn't flop. God knows I would love a spiritual succesor to TA. Lord knows we need a game like that.

Its mot a bad game. but any game that requires 2GB of RAM for smooth running is off the list for me.

Also, when I tried the beta, the sides aren't really original - they seem like cookie cutter clones of each other with different unit graphics and slightly different tactics. If you compare this to say Earth 2160 which has four different sides with four different buildstyles, its disappointing.

Its a shame as the ARM and CORE had slightly different emphasis on their units in the original game (CORE was stronger and more lumbering, wheras ARM were slightly faster).

It'll sell, but its a disappointing update - its good, but doesn't really push the boundaries, and larger maps don't really count.
