Help With Race Config

Not sure if this has been asked before!

I am currently moddin the Raceconfig.xml and can get all the images for portraits and logos to display correctly however, when I modify the race abilities such as economics or social productions the values only stick for certain modified races i have created... for others the values don’t show at all or they do until you move to the next screen where they disappear...

I have tried using the same values for the problem races but no change, it only seems to effect certain "race slots" for example slots 1,2,3,6 don’t work at all but slots 4,5,7-10 seem to display correctly and hold there values when you move through the screens...

Anyone come across this? am I being stupid and doing something very wrong?

I have removed characters from the discriptions that it doesnt seem to like and am using only standard a-z characters plus the odd fullstop! I cant see that i have gone wrong anywhere

Any help welcome

I am currently working on revamping the races as I think I have finished balancing default Political party system. I have made a few data tables for the major and minor races that I am using to work from and I will start to do major changes shortly however the minor ones I have made to date seem to hold as expected.

For example the default political party is 0 or Federalists for every race. I set each race to a different one and changed the bonus values and they stayed.

The real hang up is that the custom points available is always a default max of 10 even though it different for some races. Moreover the default racial attributes vanish if you modify a given ability with points then remove it. I hope this is fixd for the next update.

It is probably the work of some nasty .raceconfig files in your ...my docs\my games\galciv2 folder. Delete the offending files or just press 'clear' in the race customization screen.

Political Parties semm to work fine, these changes all hold as far as i can tell...

Custom Points i can set to Zero and currently one two race setups i can get this to defualt to zero in the race config screen in game... This doesnt however seem to follow any pattern! all my race have 10 points spent balanced against the ability bonuses from a modified ability bonus xml (i have added min and logistics to it)...

What i find even more annoying at present is that all modified abilities such as economics, trade, etc.. display fine on the first screen when you pick a race... but some appear to lose all abilities other than a default 4% logistics when you move to the next screen... i spent a couple of hours playing around last night with it and it seems to be the race "slot" rather than the abilities choosen... i.e. slot 4 works fine with any abilities but slot 1 never works at all...

Today i am going to remove all my "custom" races and customised standard races as i think this may be interfearing with the picks? is about the only thing i havent tried so far...

Again anyone with any ideas please post!

Master U i can get the custom pick to change but only when i set the change up as a new mod... and the image file needs to be placed in the root of the race directory not the logo directory... It seems that sometimes it doesnt pick up images even when pointed directly at them if they are more than 1 level from the race directory?! And sometimes it has problems with what the images are called... not sure if this is just me... i am now using the default RaceImageXX.png

Just to confirm it was the nasty saved "custom" races that were causing the problem... for example if you have a custom made Human race... it will interfere with any slot 1 modifications that you make... now i have removed all of my customised "standard" races everything works fine
