Easy-Yet Useful Fix

I was thinking, maybe for 1.3, the developers can add a button that resets a civ's abilities, and one that clears all custom ships for all races. For example, you're playing as the humans, and you change your abilities, since the abilities are set up by default in a way that's immpossible to duplicate by using custom abilities, you can never reset them. If there is a button that does this, sorry, but I've never seen one.

If you think this is a good idea, please implement it in the next patch. By the way, this is a great game, and this is pretty much my only pet peeve with it.

isnt it the "clear" button? seems to reset an entire race to its defaults for me anyway

Deleting the custom ships would be nice button too.

Its not hard to delete them from the folder, but a button in game UI would be ok too.

you can always just click on the "load" button which restores the civ, custom or not to default

Would like a delete all custom ships button and a button for turning off the premade designs ( i just have to obsolete em as they come along )for use at the start of a game and a delete all saved games would be nice too.

Actually i'd love to see some sort of ship manager. IE be able to say that you're playing profile X, and will use profile X ships, and have the button that clears out profile X.

I love the Yor ships, but i also play the Thalians with Yor style. It drives me nuts constantly obsoleting the other type. I end up just deleting them all, even though i've had some pretty cool ships.

Or how about marking a design so that it will be available in the future ? IE only have ships that you've marked be available the next game. This would allow you to mark your -0 hull & jewelry designs, and you wouldn't have the mess of all these ships.

Also it would be nice if you could say obsolete this ship, and every design based on it. (given they don't do any of the above.)

It is very expensive to upgrade a ship. Unless the ship has levelled up a lot (less likely with v1.2) or you have money to burn, it is better just to build a new one.

That's why you need a monster economy. Its just much easier management wise to upgrede them.

Ship wise i generally start out building small ships to get a military rating, and to form defensive fleets to protect resources.

I then skip mediums altogether, and build large hulls with good defenses. I usually try to top out the defense tec right after getting an evil weapon. Since the AI doesn't switch weapons these ships end up being practically invincible. As the AI defends against said evil weapon, i tend to research another weapon to continue the superiority through mid and late game.
