Logo's disappearing. :(

Hello. I'm having a problem with custom logo's I've download. I've put them in my logo folder, and they appear when I start a game. Fully usable at that time. I'm not sure if anyone has encounted this. I play the game on two different computers. For medical reasons, once I'm in bed for the night (need help getting there) I'm there until morning. So I play the game on my desk top during the day and installed it on a lap-top to play once I'm in bed, until I feel like actually sleeping. So what I've been doing is just copying the GalCiv folder from "My Games" into a shared folder to transfer between the two computers. Then once I get situated at each computer I just download the game folder from the shared area and copy over the old one with the new information. Works great, except for custom logos. If I start a game with a custom logo and copy it to the other computer to pick up where I left off. When I load my game on the other computer my race has NO logo at all. Making it very tough to figure out where my planets are half the time. I have all the same custom logos on each computer and can easily start games with them. Sorry for the long post, but does anyone know an easy fix for this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes. The save game file has a hardcoded file path to the logo and portrait graphics. They're in My Documents, which will be a different path on both computers unless your user accounts are set up identically.

One solution is to open up Windows Explorer on your laptop and navigate to C:\Documents and Settings. This contains a set of folders for each user account; create a new folder that has the same name as the account on your desktop computer. Inside of that folder, create a new folder called My Documents. Then you can just paste a copy of My Games inside of that. GCII won't try to run the game from that folder, it just needs it to be there for the custom graphics.

Then, of course, do the same thing on your desktop PC. If you change or add your logo or portrait graphics, you'll need to update them in all four places; still, it's better than trying to find your dark-colored planets on a black background!

Good luck!

You're welcome. I had the same problem and it took me ages to figure it out; glad to save someone else the trouble.
